Welcome to the final February edition of Beckett Sports Card Hot/Cold, at least for 2022, where we have fun and take a quick look at what’s hot and what’s not in the worlds of sports cards and sports.

With 10 days since its release, the 2022 Topps Series 1 Baseball surprises appear to have been uncovered. From variations to surprise inserts, there was more than usual this time around. Now the product is starting to settle and collectors are starting to make their lists of needs and starting to round things out. As usual, this is a set that’s going to be extremely popular for the long-haul, not just a week or two of initial excitement.

Emerging from the All-Star Game, Ja Morant continues to electrify crowds and highlight packages. Although hardly a fresh face, DeMar DeRozan has been the breakout player of the season. The Suns got some bad news when Chris Paul went down with an injury but Devin Booker has stepped up his game even more.

On the flip side, Zion Williamson’s injury woes continue to impact his hobby standing. More than the injury, the many unknowns might be hurting even more. How long will he be out for? How will his play be impacted? What’s the long-range outlook? There are still several scenarios that work out fine. But the more time passes where he’s out, the window on those scenarios shrinks a little more.

This week’s Hot/Cold is brought to you by Dynasty Breaks.

Hello Beckham I’m handicapped person that collects cards I tried to get it back of book from you people. I don’t know what else to do. All I have is my phone. If you can help me I very much appreciate it. Like I stated I tried to buy a prescription to your magazine should be able to find out on my cards. I did have my prescription when I got sick and I had to go in the hospital. Now I’m back at home. So if you can help me I appreciate it. Truly yours Michael
