Beckett Sports Card Hot / Cold – April 25, 2022
Let’s change things up and do a Monday Beckett Sports Card Hot/Cold. It’s a different day but it’s the same fun and quick look at what’s hot and what’s not in the worlds of sports cards and sports.
The combination of postseason basketball and early-season baseball have been a big force the past couple of weeks. Some familiar faces continue to do big things, others are reminding us of their greatness and some surprises are making things interesting.
Jayson Tatum has upped his game of late and now the Boston Celtics could sweep the Brooklyn Nets out in the first round. The scores have been closer than than the series suggests with Boston getting just 14 more total points than Brooklyn across all three games, but each time Tatum has been a difference maker. It started with a beautiful buzzer-beating layup to win Game 1. Then 19 points and 10 assists in Game 2. Tatum put Kevin Durant and the Nets on the ropes with 39 in Game 3.
Out West, the Warriors are up 3-1 against the Denver Nuggets. Stephen Curry is leading the way, but that’s to be expected. The hobby is buzzing about Jordan Poole. At the start of the month you could find his Prizm RCs easily for under $10. They’re currently closer to $20 for the base version. Poole’s had a breakout season for Golden State but his cards should be considered extremely volatile at the moment.
