Dear Beckett Customers and Collectors,

I hope this letter finds you well as the world tries to get back to pre-COVID days.  Beckett has intentionally been quiet over the last few months. That is not because we’ve had nothing to say or no reason to be proud. We could have been bragging about keeping our services fully open to the public without a price increase. We should have been boastful about the increasing number of new employees we have hired from around the country. We could have shown videos of our massive growth in facilities/operations. Perhaps we should have commented on the numerous new companies that have popped up trying to imitate Beckett Grading Services but, instead, we kept our heads down and continued to grade cards with accuracy and the integrity that the industry expects and has come to know us for.

Let’s address the question that everyone has been asking…is the National going to happen this year and if it does, what will Beckett’s presence and offerings include?  As you may or may not know, the National will take place as scheduled on July 28-Aug 1 in Rosemont, IL!  This has always been the biggest and most attended show of the year and in 2021, we expect all aspects of this show to break attendance records! We are excited about this announcement.  We are equally excited to announce that we plan to fully support this show, as we have for years.  Specifics are still coming together, but please know that Beckett will be onsite for your card grading and autograph authentication services. Additionally, we will have our new Beckett Shield protective products on hand for purchase!  Our products have been on the market for the last few months and have been a massive success in meeting demand when others are in short supply. More details will be announced in the coming weeks but please know, Beckett will once again be your one-stop shop to meet all your grading/authentication needs, to service your pricing needs, and now a place to grab your card sleeves/cases!

With this announcement, Beckett Grading will begin prepping for the show by making a few changes to our grading services.  Our plan is to make these changes temporary as we prepare for the National and focus on the cards we’ve had in our vaults for way too long.

Starting June 7th:

Beckett will suspend all grading submissions other than our Premium Level. All orders that are submitted under the Express, Standard, and Economy level will be returned to the customer, ungraded. The reason behind this decision is simply to allow us to focus on the growing backlog we have and to get as many cards back to customers as possible, before the National. This is not ideal for anyone but something our competition has done. We now feel this is the right move for Beckett. Again, this is going to be temporary and something we believe will improve our availability for the remainder of 2021 and into 2022.

Beckett will STRONGLY encourage/recommend all customers begin using our online submission form when submitting BGS or BAS orders. Using this platform will create a much more efficient order submission process. Conformations, updates, and moving cards through the system will also be positively affected and shorten the timeline.

It seems like yesterday Beckett and others in the collectibles world were in the midst of trying to figure out what havoc COVID-19 was going to have on our industry. No shows, card manufacturing shutdowns, problems getting supplies, and shops closing were just a few of the things many of us worried about and dealt with over the past 12+ months. Thankfully, it appears that many of those concerns/issues are subsiding and our market has flourished to levels we have never seen!

It is truly exciting to be involved in this industry and to see the growth we are all experiencing. We believe the best is yet to come! Continue to be safe and enjoy this great industry. We look forward to working with you in the future and seeing many of you at the National in a few weeks.

Sincerely,
Jeromy Murray
President, Beckett Collectibles

Will this mean cards that cards received after June 7 will be returned or any cards that haven’t been graded as of June 7 will be returned?

    • Eric Norton 2 June, 2021 at 11:12

Only cards that are received after the 7th and are not under the Premium Service Level will be returned.

    • Eric Norton 2 June, 2021 at 11:10

No, Sir. As long as your cards are in-house before the 7th, which yours are, they will be graded.

As long as your submission is in-house before the 7th of June your cards will be graded and returned to you.

Does this shut down also include Auto authentication? I have a 5×7 I’d like to get authenticated and slabbed.

What about the philly card show? I’ve literally waited 2 years and missed the national in AC because it was cancelled. Been try to get some cards graded. Will you not be taking cards at the show?

    • Eric Norton 2 June, 2021 at 14:22

BGS has not taken submissions at shows for well over a year now. I am not aware of any plans for BGS to be at the Philly Card Show.

Hi, I know you have gotten similar questions a bunch of times by now but I just want to be sure. I sent in two separate packages for grading, both at the express level. The first package was received by Beckett on June 1st and the other was received on June 2nd. These packages will still be graded, correct?

Will there be a price change either at the National, or once submissions are accepted again?
Also, should I arrive at the National with a printed/paper copy of my online submission form?

  8. Andrew Pan 4 June, 2021 at 11:20

What types of on-site grading/authentication services are provided at the National? Are cards able to be submitted for grading?

    • Eric Norton 7 June, 2021 at 12:12

Typically, yes, BGS does grade on-site at The NSCC. However, BGS has not made its exact plans known for this year’s show. Now, with that being said, BGS said they are all in, so one could assume that on-site grading will be a go, but that will need to be confirmed.

Will walk-in grading in the Dallas location be available after the suspension of other services has lifted? Thanks!

  10. Brian Tadros 7 June, 2021 at 12:16

Hi! My order was delivered on Friday but I got an email saying it was confirmed receipt by your shipping dept today. Since today is the 7th will the express order be sent back?

  11. Tony Fox 7 June, 2021 at 22:56

Hi Eric, thanks for the information. What happens to our payment? Will submissions made online before June 7th be refunded or will we hold our submission until you reopen?

    • Eric Norton 8 June, 2021 at 06:51

So, BGS doesn’t charge you for a submission until the order is in-house and processed (graded).

  12. Gary Kessler 7 June, 2021 at 23:22

Hi Eric- will I be able to get cards graded at the National Convention and take them home with me? I would attend the show if that is possible. I am from Naples, Florida in southwest Florida and would need to make plans soon. Thank you for your time.

    • Eric Norton 8 June, 2021 at 06:48

Mr. Kessler, in the past that has been the case and it looks like things are trending that way again this year as well. With that in mind, BGS will announce more details on their plans as they become available.

  13. Charles Gottsch 8 June, 2021 at 01:00

As of Friday 06/04/21 your current turnaround time for standard grading submissions is 8+ months, yet you received my order exactly 9 months ago on 09/04/20 and it hasn’t been graded. I’m quite sure your turnaround time 9 months ago wasn’t 8+ months….why hasn’t my order been completed? Sure would like an honest answer why.

  14. silverback88 8 June, 2021 at 06:23

Is there any form of timeline being worked towards for opening submissions back up?

    • Eric Norton 8 June, 2021 at 06:45

Well, considering the service suspension just took place, it’s hard to place a timeline on lifting that suspension. As soon as that information is available BGS will make that announcement.

  15. Keith Gatewood 9 June, 2021 at 18:21

I submitted 13 cards under Standard grading on May 13, 2021. I have not been notified that Beckett has received my submission. Will my cards still be graded and when does the service le el begin?

    • Eric Norton 23 June, 2021 at 07:27

If you submitted under the Standard level it will be sometime before you’re notified that your grading has started. If you are looking for an update I suggest trying a BGS Rep at grading@beckett.com.

  16. Donald Lamp 17 June, 2021 at 20:50

How long does Beckett plan to hold the cards they don’t intend to grade? Will the cards be shipped immediately or will there be an extensive wait for ungraded cards?

  17. Nathan 25 June, 2021 at 20:10

Been waiting since first week of June 2020 for 30 day. Why don’t you get the cards you already have finished up before committing to other things.

    • Eric Norton 30 June, 2021 at 08:13

Nathan, you should probably reach out to your grading rep or grading@beckett.com so that a BGS Rep can assist you here. At the very least you can receive an update on your order.

    • Eric Norton 1 July, 2021 at 11:05

BGS currently does not have an ETA for that, however, it will be sometime after The NSCC.

  18. Brandon Westover 4 July, 2021 at 08:21

I was just charged for my submission last Friday. Does that mean my cards are on the way? I’m honestly not sure if getting charged means the process is done or just getting started… :/

  19. Manny Rivera 13 July, 2021 at 12:30

First timer, I’m going to nationals to get a few cards graded. What form do I fill out in order to get it graded on site?
