With a new blockbuster sports movie coming next month in 42, the latest Sports Movies Issue of Beckett Sports Card Monthly is set to arrive as well with our latest look at collecting things from a slightly different perspective or with a slightly different approach.

You know, one that lets you explore stuff that’s already out there once again — or perhaps dig a little deeper on the auction block where one might not normally look.

Sometimes, it’s a real-world story that shows up on the big screen like in the case of Jackie Robinson‘s tale or even someone perhaps less-remembered in history like Vince Papale here. (In the case of Papale, being the subject of a film where he was played by Mark Wahlberg sparked serious demand for the value of his 1977 Topps Rookie Card.) Other times, we get fictional characters and stories that we all remember and appreciate over time for some of those similar peculiarities or details that we latch onto as collectors in real life.

For this issue, we’re curious about what you think, what you remember and what you know about sports films.

I guess “Your pick (from these films)” wasn’t clear enough … it’s a selection of films from roughly the last 40 years for that list. Why? An all-inclusive list would have had many, many, many more names — and the older a film is likely would mean fewer people have seen it.

Mr. Baseball is an awesome movie. If you don`t think so you need to watch it again.

I would have liked to see 61* on some of those lists, but I assume that it wasn’t because it wasn’t a theatrical release. Also, it would be way behind Major League, I have always had a particular fondness for Mr. Baseball.

semi-pro has to be the worst sports movie ever. will ferrell movies are horrible, i don’t understand why he’s so popular. the same with adam sandler

Chris I know you said sports movies but the best I can do is a television series”The Baseball Bunch” starring The San Diego Chicken”I have a signed photo of him that I got at Nashue Angels AA minor league game in NH in 1984.He was signing after the game in his chicken suit.He signed simply “the chicken”.In hindsight I wish I had him sign “The San Diego Chicken”anyway a great item.

I’m offended that Rudy and Knute Rockne All-American were not on the best movies of all time list!

I understand that there is no way to do a poll with every sports movie ever made That would just be lunacy.

However for burt reynolds i would prefer his autograph as stroker ace lol. of course with the longest yard he could have a dual autograph from each of the movies.

Talladega nights to me is a worse movie than stroker ace. We have requested over and over from press pass to see if they can ever do the racing movies autographs but the licensing on them is outrageous.

    I would love to have

    Burt Reynolds from stroker ace
Also Jim nieghbors. dual half card from stroker ace. half from singing at indy almost every year for the past eon

Tom Cruise days of thunder way better than talladega nights not as fun as stroker ace
    robert duvall days of tunder

Kenny Rogers six pack. drive till you hear glass and smell $@$%

CUT autograph of Richard Pryor from greased lightning the wendell scott story

Sylvester Stallone from driven. I love this move. special effects were over the top, needed more back story on characters and stallone should not have cast himself as an indy driver. However I liked the movie a lot.

Then of course you have heart like a wheel, last american hero, heck lightning mcqueen with paul newman also.

    these would be really cool

BTW bull durham much better than field of dreams. Not sure why anyone would think otherwise

Invincible was a great true story. And I really liked League of Their Own. Great acting and just an overall enjoyable movie with humor and sadness.
