Artist Spotlight: Ike Rodriguez
Ike Rodriguez got his start creating pencil drawings for his friends and family. It didn’t take him long to realize that painting was the path he wanted to follow.
“I took a few lessons from a fellow artist,” he says. “I learned some basic color theory and paint-ing techniques. My mother passed away in August 2006 and before she did, she urged me to put more effort to painting because she knew my potential. So I worked at it and devoted myself to painting. And that hard work started get-ting me recognition from pro players and organizations.”
His influences include Rembrandt, Manet, Picasso, Leroy Neiman, Vernon Wells, Stephen Holland and fellow Beckett Spotlight artist Dick Perez, among others.
