2010topps

Just in case you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard all about 2010 Topps Baseball, here’s the latest from the company as released on Monday.

There’s not much new here in the product breakdown, but, hey, it’s a light news day when it comes to baseball cards as we await the remainder of the 2009 card schedule and move ever so closer to 2010.

See the full release after the jump.

From Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson to Ryan Howard and Ichiro, 2010 Topps Baseball Series 1 covers the history of Major League Baseball.

And not only does the product celebrate our National Past Time, but it signals a new era in Trading Cards as Topps becomes the EXCLUSIVE PRODUCER of MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL CARDS in 2010.

2010 Topps Baseball Series 1, which ships Jan. 18,  has it all … baseball’s heroes and moments from the past, present and future depicted on array of subsets, inserts, autographs and relic cards.

They did one of those sets in a past Heritage release… didn’t go after them, but liked them.

Oh yeah … I remember those now. Come to think of it, they didn’t look that good, probably because the design was slightly flawed. The originals had rounded corners, the reprints had sharpe corners. I’m hoping they stick to the minis and round those corners!

Is it me, or do these 2010 Topps cards look ridiculous? I am a HUGE Topps fan, but wow did UD do a great job this year with its product. I mean, Topps didn’t even have any Matt Wieters cards. It’s a shame to see UD go, because between all the exclusive’s they have (hello Derek Jeter), the only people who lose out are us, the collectors. 2010 is gonna be a very tough year (and no Topps NFL cards is just as dumb, ugh)
