Amazing Heritage Auction Sports and Pop Culture Memorabilia Items on Display at the NSCC
The Sneak Peak session of the 2025 National Sports Collectors Convention (NSCC) on Wednesday night received an infusion of nostalgia and pop culture items wowing attendees. Among all the beautiful vintage sports cards in the vast Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, the Heritage Auction setup was a showpiece booth that stole the show.
Comic book, 1960s and ‘70s TV show lovers, and DC fans got to see original costumes from the Wonder Woman and Batman TV series. The clothing on display were worn by Lynda Carter, aka Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, Adam West, Batman/Bruce Wayne, and Dick Grayson, Robin.
Premiering on Halloween in 2010 on AMC, adapted from a comic book, The Walking Dead became an instant classic. The original series ran for 11 seasons but lives on in spinoff formats like The Walking Dead: Dead City. Fans can bid on clothing items from the show including one of the beloved and hated bad guys – Negan played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan (pictured with Lucille).
One of the hero archetypes in The Walking Dead was Michonne (Grimes) played by Danai Gurira. There is a Lucille and then there is Michonne’s Katana. The zombie slicing TV prop was also in the house. Fans can get in on The Walking Dead auction action Oct. 30 – Nov. 1.
Staying in the comic book genre, Batman #9, Black Cat Mystery Comis #50, The Incredible Hulk #1, X-Men #1, Amazing Fantasy #15 introducing Spider Man, and Green Lantern #22, among others, were highlighted for fans.
Heritage brought the sports collecting hobby to Chicago as well. Straight from the hardwood, three Michael Jordan jerseys and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Lakers jersey were under the lights.
From the diamond, game-worn and photo matched Roberto Clemente and Mickey Mantle were among the highlighted jerseys. The Mick jersey is signed!
Mixing cartoons with basketball and MJ, pinball machine artwork from the movie Space Jam will soon be on auction.
Joe Jackson, Tris Speaker, and Hans Wagner cards were fan favorites to see in person.
Wolverine and Spider Man comic book artwork that collectively should get a few hundred thousand dollars come auction time.
