The baseball slugged by Aaron Judge for his 62nd home run of the 2022 season – breaking Roger Maris’ 61-year-old American League record – will be sold in an upcoming Goldin auction.

Aaron Judge 62nd Home Run Ball

The ball was caught on Oct. 4 by Cory Youmans who was attending the Yankees game vs. the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington. According to Goldin, after Youmans caught the ball, he kept it in a safe deposit box. Once Youmans made the decision to sell, he contacted Goldin who sent a professional security team to Texas to retrieve the ball.

The ball will be featured in Goldin’s December Elite Auction that opens November 29 and closes December 17. Opening bid for the ball: $1 million. Goldin believes the ball will challenge the all-time record for a baseball of $3.1 million paid for Mark McGwire’s 70th home run ball.

“Home run balls have a unique place in the collectible industry for a few reasons,” said Goldin founder Ken Goldin. “Unlike bats or jerseys which players and teams technically own, a home run ball is the immediate property of whatever fan catches it. In this case, this particular ball was basically a winning Powerball ticket. Aaron Judge is an absolutely monumental and beloved figure in New York and across sports and this will almost certainly be the highest price paid for any baseball ever.”
