A Guide to Disney Lorcana Erratas Cards
In most trading card games, the term errata refers to official changes made to a card’s text after its initial print. These changes most often become the default text for all future print runs of the card, but you might be in possession of a few that have since had their rules changed.
Usually, wording is changed to clarify how a card works or to adjust game balance. If something turns out to be too powerful or has an unforeseen interaction with another card that makes it nearly unstoppable, publishers will usually tweak things to maintain fairness.
Pre-change cards can sometimes be valuable to collectors, but there’s no guarantee. Either way, here is a list of all known errata for the English print run of Lorcana through January 1, 2025.
Captain Hook — Forceful Duelist
The wording on this card changed from “Challenger +2 (When challenging, this character gets + 2 Strength)” to “Challenger +2 (While challenging, this character gets + 2 Strength)”. It’s a small change, just shifting “when” to “while.”
Maleficent — Monstrous Dragon
The wording changed from “Dragon Fire (When you play this character, you may banish a chosen opposing character” to “Dragon Fire (When you play this character, you may banish chosen character)”. Only a single word was changed, but it’s an important change: it means you can banish your own character if you want to.
Robin Hood — Unrivaled Archer
This card has two abilities, but only the “Good Shot” ability was changed from “Good Shot (during your turn, this character has Evasive)” to “Good Shot (During your turn, this character gains Evasive)”.
Stitch — Rock Star
This card has some of the most extensive changes of any Lorcana errata. Its original text reads, “Shift 4 (You may pay 4* to play this on top of one of your Stitch characters)”. Adoring Fans (Whenever you play a character with cost 2 or less, you may exert it to draw a card.”)
This was changed to “Shift 4 (You may pay 4 Cost to play this on top of one of your characters named Stitch)”. “Adoring Fans (Whenever you play a character with cost 2 or less, you may exert them to draw a card”. The changes clarify the mechanics of the card.
Befuddle
The card originally read “Return a character or item with cost 2 or less to their player’s hand,” but has been changed to “Return chosen character or item with cost 2 or less to their player’s hand”.
Work Together
The original flavor text read, “Pasha: ‘Put your whole back into it!” The correct spelling of the character’s name is “Pacha,” and all post-errata cards are spelled that way.
Chief Tui — Respected Leader
The card originally read, “Support (Whenever this character quests, you may add their Strength to chosen character’s Strength this turn”. The word ‘another’ was added, so the updated text reads “Support (Whenever this character quests, you may add their Strength to another chosen character’s Strength this turn)”.
In addition to Chief Tui — Respected Leader, HeiHei — Boat Snack, Merlin — Self-Appointed Mentor, and Philoctetes — Trainer of Heroes all received the same change.
Yzma — Scary Beyond All Reason
“Cruel Irony (When you play this character, shuffle another chosen character into their player’s deck. That player draws 2 cards” changed to “Cruel Irony (When you play this character, you may shuffle another chosen character into their player’s deck. That player draws 2 cards”. The change is subtle, but the addition of “you may” makes it an optional ability.
Prince John — Greediest of All
“I Sentence You (Whenever your opponent discards 1 or more cards, you may draw a card for each card discarded)” changed to, “I Sentence You (Whenever an opposing player discards 1 or more cards, you may draw a card for each card discarded”. Another small change from “your opponent” to “an opposing player”.
Elsa — Gloves Off
This card had no change in text, but in its art. The original showed a broken tree branch at the top right, while the updated card shows a continuous branch.
Felicia — Always Hungry
The illustrator credit was shortened from Michael “Cookie” Niewadomy to just “Cookie.”
This same change was applied to Mulan — Soldier in Training.
