Remembering Cartoonist Bill Gallo in his own medium

Bill Gallo, long time sports cartoonist for the New York Daily News passed away yesterday at the age of 88.
Gallo inked many sports icons over his long career and gave fans characters such as Basement Bertha, Yuchie and “General Von Steingrabber,” a stab at Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.
Yesterday, the New York Daily News released a video of Yankee fans recounting Gallo’s creative contributions to the team and to the sports world.

I grew up with Gallo in the Daily News sports section. His comics were some of my favorite things to see every day. He’ll be missed.
As a Very Long time follower of Bill Gallo, He will be missed. Nothing will ever be better then opening the daily New to see his cartoon’s. The one I’ll always remember even thou I’m not a Yankees fans, is the one he drew when Thurman Munson Passed away. I must say the drawing above by Andy Broome really made me sad, i think its a great tribute to Bill Gallo, you guys should see if the Daily New would want to use it. I think a lot of us New York would feel the same way i do.
