3 Key 2018-19 O-Pee-Chee Platinum Hockey Sales – Beckett Pricing Insider
I have always found O-Pee-Chee Platinum to be infuriating. Not because of the content, but because as a pricing analyst I think I for sure have it pegged down and then out of nowhere one of the colored parallels sells for an unexpected amount and I have to change my thinking about it.
This years edition is no different as I have already had to go back and make some changes. Plus the added bonus content of the unannounced Black NHL Shield parallel is making the 2018-19 set a fun chase.
With just one autograph per box, Upper Deck has put more than enough content in this product to drive outside of a “hit” to make it worth your while.
Here are three key early sales from 2018-19 O-Pee-Chee Platinum that you need to be aware of.
2018-19 O-Pee-Chee Platinum Rookie Autographs Red Prism #REP Elias Pettersson /50 – $415
This list had to start with Pettersson. There hasn’t been a hotter and more consistent rookie on the secondary market this season. Not even Carter Hart, who came on strong during the season could knock Pettersson of his pedestal. This parallel from the Rookie Autographs set sold for $415, further solidifying Pettersson’s position in hockey’s 2018-19 rookie hierarchy. It’s Elias then everyone one else.

2018-19 O-Pee-Chee Platinum Black NHL Shield Erik Karlsson – $40
This card isn’t a show stopper, but a great example of the extra content that Upper Deck has been sneaking into their products. This particular card sold for $40, however sales for this unannounced parallel have topped out at $150 for a Pettersson rookie range down to about the $15 mark for guys like Eichel and Kopitar. We’re still piecing together this checklist so if you have names to add or you see a sale please let me know.

2018-19 O-Pee-Chee Platinum Emerald Surge #15 Carey Price /10 – $65
Outside of the one-of-one Golden Treasures, these Emerald Surge parallels out of 10 are the toughest of the announced parallels. This Carey Price sold for $65, which if you take into consideration how popular of a player he is, may be considered a steal. Again, these range in price depending on the player, but if it’s a top-tier veteran or rookie, it’s bound to be popular.

It blows me away at how under appreciated this set is,the Auston Matthews red surge sells for 1.50 I’m new to hockey cards,I bought a box of these and I was blown away at how beautiful these cards are and I really like the format of the set but when I looked up the values I realized I really had nothing of value to show for, it seems the only thing worth collecting in hockey cards are young guns but that set is so plain and dated looking that it feels like hockey cards are stuck in the junk wax era,no thanks I’m done with hockey cards..
