2026 Topps Series 2 Baseball Variations Guide and Image Gallery
If you’re a collector looking for a challenge beyond building a base set, Topps has you covered. The number of 2026 Topps Series 2 Baseball variations has expanded from years past, and several old favorites have taken on a new approach.
From different photos to special designs to alternate printing materials, Topps puts several special spins on some or all of the base cards from the Series 2 checklist.
In this guide, we’ll break down all 12 variations collectors can find in the product.
Golden Mirror Variations
Defined by their golden flip sides — which include a rainbow foil finish this year — these variants also have gold Topps logo on the front and feature alternate photos.
Now in their fourth year, Golden Mirror cards often showcase players in less traditional baseball places, often away from in-game action on the field. Because this variation covers the entire 350-card base set, there is plenty to see — including a lot of landscape cards.
That said, pulling these is not easy, as they only appear about once in every 36 hobby boxes. Here are the pack odds for the most common box types:

Vintage Stock Variations
Vintage Stock Variations have been a regular theme in the Topps flagship set since 2016.
Defined by a vintage feel and design, these cards are printed on a different stock than base cards and feature a composition that makes them look like they belong in a different era. Only 100 players from the base checklist have Vintage Stock cards, giving certain player collectors an additional chase.
Vintage Stock cards are numbered to /99 on the back, and are also tough finds. Pack odds include:

True Photo Variations
If your baseball card looks more like a mini poster than anything else, you probably have a True Photo Variation.
True Photo Variations strip away almost every design element and leave behind an extended look at the photo used for the card. The only exception is the Topps logo and a RC badge or All-Star Rookie Gold Cup where it applies. The borders, imitation jersey design, nameplate, team logo, and more vanish, allowing the photo to tell the story of the pictured player.
Unsurprisingly, the 100 cards on the checklist are tough to find. Here are pack odds:

Player Number Variations
Player Number Variations have a little different feel in 2026 — and the Series 2 checklist has a different feel than the Series 1 checklist did.
Last year, this concept debuted with only a handful of players, and collectors could see a player’s jersey number running across the entire card. Those cards were also serial-numbered to match a player’s uniform number.
This year, however, players have their jersey number running through only the card’s border, and the cards are not serial-numbered. That said, they are still short-printed, and after Topps produced 100 players in Series 1, they’ve only created the variation for 25 players in Series 2 — making these cards even harder to find. Found exclusively in hobby boxes, collectors only unearth a Player Number Variation once every 6,773 packs.

Team Color Border Variations
Because of the jersey-style design of the base cards, the Team Color Border variations only feature a player’s team logo on a little over half of the border in the third year of this variant.
Team logos and a team color appear down the entire right border and a little more than half of the top and bottom borders. The remaining part of the border corresponds to an opposite team color.
Only 100 players appear on the checklist, but these cards will certainly be popular among team collectors. And unlike other variations, it’s a little easier to pull one of these. That being said, collectors still won’t find them too often.

Holiday Variations
The Fourth of July and baseball are two staples of an American summer, and Topps has once again brought Independence Day holiday themes into Topps Series 2 — but only for 100 cards in the Holiday Variation instead of the entire base set.
Found exclusively in value boxes, Holiday Variations fall 1:3 packs and feature a bright shining sun throughout the background. The Holiday Variations also have their own set of parallels:
- Hot Dog /99 (Value – 1:550)
- Ice Cream /50 (Value – 1:1,089)
- Beach Umbrella /25 (Value – 1:2,177)
- Fireworks /5 (Value – 1:10,873)
- Waves 1/1 (Value – 1:53,388)

Clear Variations
Present since 2014, Clear Variations (/10) return with another 100-card checklist.
Printed on clear acetate, these see-through cards are always popular with collectors, even though their limited print run makes them tough to acquire. Because of the see-through acetate, these cards also have a different design on the back, which is a mirror image of nearly everything on the front, plus some additional details only found on the flip side.
Collectors will only find Clear Variations in hobby boxes, with a pull rate of 1:3,394 packs.

Golden Mirror Variations – Legends
A new concept for 2026 is Golden Mirror Legends. These cards follow the same concept as the base Golden Mirror cards, but these 50 cards feature a retired legend instead of the current player in the base set.
The cards are numbered like regular base cards on the flip side. Each legend usually takes the place of a player from the same team, and many of them share the same position. For example, base card #352 features Detroit Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson and the corresponding Golden Mirror Legends card features legendary Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera. A non-team example can be found when Christy Mathewson, the legendary pitcher for the New York Giants, replaces Detroit Tigers stalwart fireballer Justin Verlander at card #415.
There are nine legends who appear for different teams, with one card in each Series 1 and Series 2.

Canadian Independence Day Variations
Collectors have found Independence Day parallels (/76) with the American flag printed throughout a card’s borders for many years, but in 2026, Topps also pays homage to Canada’s independence with a special variation only found on Toronto Blue Jays cards.

Canada became a self-governing entity in 1867, but the Canadian Independence Day Variations are all numbered to /76 and feature the Canadian flag throughout the border.
There are 14 Blue Jays cards in the base set, and the cards land at the following odds:

1952 Topps Rookies Variations
Perhaps the most exciting among the variations in 2026 are the new 1952 Topps Rookies Variation. This new concept places 20 Series 2 rookies onto the iconic 1952 Topps design, and Topps announced that this will be the only time these players ever appear on the ’52 design throughout their careers.
These base versions are quite rare but can be found in all box types. Odd include:

In addition to base variants, there are Autographs (/10), Red Ink Autographs (/5), and Gold Autographs (1/1).

Short-Printed Rookie Cards
At the tail end of the flagship base set in recent years, Topps has produced special variations of rookies who stormed out of the gates at the start of a new season. In 2026, there are four players who made the cut:

Big Apple Foil
Boxes exclusively available at Fanatics Fest in New York City from July 16-19 will give collectors the chance to find Big Apple Foil variations of 100 players, with pack odds of 1:4 (Hobby) and 1:6 (Value). Parallels include:
