Topps to Offer 2025-26 Topps Chrome Basketball First Day Issue Boxes in $3,500 Dutch Auction
Topps will run its first online Dutch auction for special-edition 2025-26 Topps Chrome Basketball First Day Issue boxes, starting the price at $3,500 at 12 p.m. EST on Thursday, December 4. Boxes will only be available through Topps.com.
The price of boxes will drop in price every three minutes until the product sells out. Collectors can purchase boxes at any time before the inventory sells out but will pay the price shown at the time of their purchase, even if others eventually buy them for a lower price. The auction ends immediately after the last box is purchased.
Panini has used a similar format for its 1st Off The Line boxes for several years.
The Topps Chrome Basketball First Day Issue jumbo boxes include three autographs and a pair of exclusive parallels – either Silver (/12) or Tri-Color Green/Yellow/Purple (/8).
First Day Issue boxes are expected to arrive on December 15, while the regular release for Topps Chrome Basketball is December 18.
The First Day Issue moniker may be familiar to collectors. It was a long-running, limited-edition parallel in Stadium Club, last appearing in basketball in 2007-08. The parallel has been active in recent baseball Stadium Club sets.
