2025-26 Panini Obsidian Soccer takes fans to the dark side — but not in a bad way.
Since its inception seven years ago, Obsidian has provided soccer faithful with a black optichrome base set, plenty of color from the parallel rainbow, and exciting hits.
Collectors can expect all of that again, as well as the same configuration from a hobby box — a combined four autographs or memorabilia cards, one insert, one parallel, and one base card.
2025-26 Panini Obsidian Soccer Checklist Overview
The base cards take on a dark theme, with a black background and chrome accents, but collectors will still find plenty of colorful cards throughout the product. Over the years, the base set has been serial-numbered to a different production run; Panini has not yet disclosed this year’s print run or the size of the checklist.
Flood and Electric Etch parallels will make their colorful returns, including the rare fan-favorite Contra, which has been numbered to /9 in each of the past six releases. A new parallel chase for collectors this year will be Caldera (/25).
With more than half the cards in the box as hits, collectors will look for autographs and memorabilia cards from a variety of concepts.
Lightning Strike Signatures have been a staple of the product since its debut, and they return with more lightning in the design than in years past. Not only do the cards have an image of actual lightning in the background, there is also multiple lightning elements within the card’s design.
Another long-time returner is Volcanic Material Signatures, which sees the patch window in the center of the card for the first time. Matrix Materials Autographs also make another go-around.
After debuting last year, Solar Swatches make another appearance as a standalone memorabilia set.
With one insert or insert parallel per box, collectors will be looking for a variety of concepts, from the common to the exceedingly rare.
Among the common finds, which will have several levels of parallels, is Supernova.
Black Color Blast inserts, which debuted in 2020, went vertical for the first time last year, but the layout returns to a horizontal format for this one-per-case chase.
