2024 Topps Series 2 Baseball Short Print Variations Put on a Fun Face
It turns out that a handful of early-season rookie debuts who were left off the original checklist have 2024 Topps Series 2 Baseball Short Print Variations.
Jackson Holliday, Jackson Chourio, Jackson Merrill and Wyatt Langford all make their flagship debuts in the product. For Holliday, it’s actually seven different cards (and possibly more).
These are different from the Golden Mirror Image Variations that cover all 350 base cards in the set. These rookie variations are more like the unannounced Shohei Ohtani Dodgers and Juan Soto Yankees cards found in Series 1.
Odds have not been announced for the 2024 Topps Series 2 Baseball SSPs. That said, early on they don’t appear to be too hard — at least for the basic versions. It’s still too soon to tell if some of the Holliday’s are harder than others.
These variations are not traditional Rookie Cards as they’re more like inserts. All four players should have their RCs in 2024 Topps Update Series Baseball. Late-addition rookies have happened in Series 2 before, most recently in 2022 with Julio Rodriguez, Bobby Witt Jr. and Spencer Torkelson.
2024 Topps Jackson Holliday Fun Face Variations
Early rips uncovered that Jackson Holliday had a card paying homage to one of the most famous cards of the ’80s — the 1989 Fleer Bill Ripken. Only, instead of an obscenity on his bat knob, Holliday’s says, “Fun Face.”
That’s where the card jumps further down a rabbit hole into more variations.
When the 1989 Fleer Ripken was discovered, the card maker scrambled to change it. This resulted in a handful of variations including black boxes, various scribbles and even a buzz cut that has a slit cut in the bottom.
Topps has recreated these as well resulting in six (and counting) Jackson Holliday Fun Face variations:
- Fun Face on Bat Knob
- Black Box
- Black Scribble
- White Bat Knob
- White Scibble
- Cut Card
Ok look say what you want but this was genius level by fanatics. I love this so much. pic.twitter.com/mSGZ9vRTvX

I hope I can pull one to display alongside the original Billy Ripken card. A hilarious tribute by Topps.
Maybe this is foreshadowing. Saying Holliday will be as big an mlb star as Billy Ripken was. Lol
I ripped two cases of Topps series 1 baseball and was real impressed with the variety of the product along with inserts. I am now ripping series two with one and a half cases opened. So far I have been very disappointed with the lack of variety and inserts. Maybe just luck of the draw but disappointed to say the least. (not cheap)
Also some of the product so far has not had a relic card or autographed card in designated boxes. Going to have to file a claim from the website which is a pain.

I have a 2024 Topps series 2 card #424 (Betts & Devers Best of the Best) which has a CODE#CMP071002 – WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?? Ted
It’s a base card. Checklists use a different code.
I wish these four players would just have a regular base card and instead of being made SP’s.
Are these Holliday cards available in all the boxes, or are they exclusive to specific hobby, retail, blaster, etc.?
