2024 Topps Chrome Update Baseball Variations Guide
The 2024 Topps Chrome Update Baseball variations take on a rookie theme. Twenty-five players have SSP versions that not only have a different photo but they’re a lot tougher to pull.
At first glance, variations look like standard Refractors. This is the same as similar cards found in 2024 Topps Chrome Baseball. They have the same layout and they don’t scream as being anything different. Many of the photos take a more behind-the-scenes of a approach compared to the regular base cards. Players warming up, having fun on the field and wearing warm-ups are some of the things collectors will find.
2024 Topps Chrome Update Baseball variations land 1:183 hobby, 1:72 jumbo and 1:187 mega box packs.
All 25 cards also have six levels of parallels:
- Green Speckle Refractors – /99
- Gold Speckle Refractors – /50
- Orange Speckle Refractors – /25
- Black Speckle Refractors – /10
- Red Speckle Refractors – /5
- Superfractors – 1/1
2024 Topps Chrome Update Baseball Variations Codes
Still not sure if you have a variation? Take it to the back. You’ll find a small little CMP code at the end of the copyright info. These are different for different types of cards — including how to spot a base card (or Refractor) versus an SSP. These are the two code endings that are important here:
- Base – 715
- Variation – 853
So if the code ends with 715, you’ve got a regular base card or one of its many parallels. If it’s 853, you landed a variation.
Another easy way to spot some of the variations is whether the Rookie Debut notation is noted. Some of the players’ base cards come from the subset that notes their first MLB game. None of the variations do. It’s important to note that this applies to only some of the cards so it’s important to know which ones. All are noted in the gallery below.
