Got my 6 boxes on the way. Have to wait till May but still very cool. More WBC is always good.

Bought 3 from Topps. Now I wish I had bought a few more. Don’t love the base design as I feel it is too flashy and contemporary, which may not have appeal long term (look at what was trendy in homes in the 70s!).

I would prefer a more timeless look and feel. But I get they’re trying to incorporate the multi-cultural flavor into the design, and thus the color scheme.

My suggestion is to not use high resolution images on glossy cardstock with bright colors. I would suggest an olde tyme, off white background, no borders (symbolic of international reach of baseball beyond the US), with a grainy image to give it an enduring and timeless feel. Something similar to 2020 topps inception, where the white background can be layered next with the muted colors of the home country with the superimposed image of the player on the forefront.

2020 Topps Inception would have been a perfect inspiration for the 2023 WBC Chrome cards.

I just received my 3 boxes and opened the first one. Very exciting. Got a 12/99 Menetaka Murakami, nice American Flag Mike Trout, a Shohei, Alonso, 2x Bobby Witt Jr, Altuve, Betts and more.
