2022 Topps Series 2 Baseball vending boxes offer yet another configuration for the flagship release, arriving two months after its original hobby street date. And while each of these boxes are heavy on base cards, there are exclusive inserts in the form of Fresh Faces.

The 25-card checklist for these is all rookies and includes several 2022 debuts that have been in very few products thus far.

Highlights on the 2022 Topps Fresh Faces checklist include Julio Rodriguez, Bobby Witt Jr. and Wander Franco. There’s also Jeremy Pena, Steven Kwan and Hunter Greene. Basically, this set offers the deepest overall look at the 2022 rookie class thus far.

Players making their debut on their team’s Opening Day rosters are largely absent from 2022 Topps Series 2. Rodriguez, Witt and Spencer Torkelson all have Short Print Variations but aren’t in the base set. Witt and Rodriguez also have 1987 Topps Baseball Autographs.

2022 Topps Series 2 Baseball vending boxes have 170 cards, five of which are Fresh Faces inserts. These are the only inserts available in these boxes. You won’t find any base parallels or variations, either. Vending boxes can currently be found on eBay for under $50.

The configuration is a throwback to the 1980s when Topps would release 500-card boxes of base cards. The idea was that these boxes could be used to stock card vending machines.

This isn’t the first time Topps has used “Fresh Faces” in 2022. It’s also an insert set in 2022 Topps Pristine Baseball. Other than sharing a name, they’re not connected.

    SUCH A BAD PRODUCT
Series 2 checklist is a wasteland of filler base cards to begin with – but to see a guaranteed DUD box… I honestly never would have thought Topps would stoop so low.
The “Fresh Faces” insert is literally throwing collectors a bone, but notice what’s missing… ANY CHANCE of getting a 1/1 or a (sticker) auto card. You think that be the least they could do to inspire some collectors to buy the product to chase.
This is a product I can guarantee not a SINGLE buyer asked for. I can see series 1 “vending box” since it actually has base cards someone might want…. but a series 2 vending box should only be sold in home improvement stores for use as wallpaper.
