2022 Topps Luminaries Baseball Details

2022 Topps Luminaries Baseball maintains the same general premise the brand has had since debuting in 2017. For starters, everything is an autograph — one numbered to 15 or less at that. The thematic checklist remains largely the same as well.

Boxes on Luminaries come with just one card, the autograph or autograph relic that comes encased.

2022 Topps Luminaries Baseball Checklist Overview

The majority of the Luminaries checklist falls under one of four broad themes. Home Run Kings features notable sluggers. Hit Kings spotlight players with a knack for getting on base. Pitchers enter with Masters of the Mound. Promising young standouts appear in Spark of Light.

Within each of these themes are some similar types of cards.

Home Run Kings

Home Run Kings Autographs are the most standard cards to feature power hitters past and present. That said, base versions have just 15 copies. Additional parallels include Red (/10), Blue (/5), Purple (/3) and Black (1/1).

Adding some memorabilia are Home Run Kings Autographed Relics (/15) and their Blue (/5), Purple (/3) and Black (1/1) versions.

Home Run Kings Autograph Patches (/15) still have on-card signatures. One-of-one Black are the only parallels.

Dual and Triple Autographed Patch cards are done in a book format. These are both one-of-ones.

Arguably, 2022 Topps Luminaries Baseball’s top cards are booklets that open up with lots of signatures. Home Run Kings Ultra Book cards (1/1) have ten autographs. That’s a lot, but it’s just a fraction of the Ultimate Book Card’s (1/1) 50 autographs.

Hit Kings

There’s a lot of similarities between the Hit Kings cards and Home Run Kings. It starts with the basic Hit Kings Autographs. Again, base versions have 15 copies and are followed by Red (/10), Blue (/5), Purple (/3) and Black (1/1) parallels.

The memorabilia starts with Hit Kings Autographed Relics (/15) and their Blue (/5), Purple (/3) and Black (1/1) parallels. Autographed Patches also have 15 copies with a Black (1/1) parallel. There are also Dual Autograph Patch Books that are each one-of-a-kind.

A 10-signature Ultra Book (1/1) card is also available. As is a Hit Kings Ultimate Book, however it has only 40 signatures compared to the 50 that its Home Run Kings counterpart has.

Masters of the Mound

With not a lot of power-hitting hurlers, Masters of the Mound is where collectors will find collectors will find the heaviest concentration of pitchers in 2022 Topps Luminaries Baseball.

Like the other main themes, there are both Autographs (/15) and Autographed Relics (/15). Both have Blue (/5), Purple (/3) and Black (1/1) parallels. Standard autographs have Red (/10) versions as well.

Autographed Patch have 15 copies while Dual Autograph Patch Books are one-of-ones.

There’s also an Ultra Book (1/1) with 10 players and a 30-signature Ultra Book (1/1).

Spark of Light

While rookies are part of the mix, Spark of Light cards reach a little broader and cover players with youth on their side. This means some young veteran stars as well.

Autographs (/15) have on-card ink. Parallels for these are limited to just Purple (/3) and Gold (1/1).

Spark of Light Dual Autographs (/15) double up on players and also have Purple (/3) and Gold (1/1) versions.

The theme skips standard relics and goes right to Autograph Patch cards (/15 or less) and Dual Autograph Patch cards (/15 or less). One-of-one Gold parallels can be found for both.

Additional Autographs

While these four themes may cover most of the 2022 Topps Luminaries Baseball checklist, there are a few other pieces to the product as well.

Guiding Light Triple Autographs (/5) take a past, present and future approach to player selection. These have Purple (/3) and Gold (1/1) versions. There are also Guiding Light Triple Autograph Relic books that have similar print runs and parallels.

Letter Book cards (1/1) have a game-used letter patch that’s joined by an on-card signature.

The Greatest is a one-of-a-kind 30-signature book card that doesn’t look to a particular theme beyond being some of the best to ever play baseball.

Cut Signatures take on four different forms. First, there are standard cuts that have one autograph. Cut Signatures Relics add a piece of memorabilia while Dual Cut Signature Book cards double up the players. Finally, there are Cut Signature Bat Knobs. No matter the type, cuts are all one-of-ones.
