2022 Bowman Chrome Baseball Variations Guide
The 2022 Bowman Chrome Baseball Variations give 15 rookies the SSP treatment. Each takes their standard Refractors and gives them a different image.
Landing 1:241 hobby packs, it’ll take almost two cases of 2022 Bowman Chrome Baseball to find one. While not easy to find, the checklist is missing some of the season’s top first-year players. Julio Rodriguez, Bobby Witt Jr. and Spencer Torkelson are all in the base set but do not have variations.
Two Ways to Confirm 2022 Bowman Chrome Baseball Variations
Besides the different image on the front, there are two other ways to know if you have a variation or not.
For starters, there’s the serial number on the back — or lack thereof. Standard Refractors are serial-numbered to 499 on the back. SSPs are not numbered.
There’s also the fine print. The CMP code at the end differentiates types of cards. As a result, the end of that code is different for base Refractors and variations. These are the endings you need to know to spot the rookie image swaps:
- Base Refractors – 814
- Variation – 852

Because these codes are so small and hard to read (they’re not intended for general collector use), the serial number approach might be easier.

… tempted to never buy hobby box of chrome. 2022 Bowman and Topps chrome box had several cards damaged beyond the normal allowance. Sheesh.
same, the quality control is horrendous, very sad …… the fact that the price of the product is so high then if you get lucky enough to pull an awesome card just find it’s damaged, you’re screwed
can anyone say what the odds are of one of these in auto form? what about the superfractor of one? I know rookie supers are one in 359,000 so it seems sps would be even greater?? thanks!
