2021 Topps Heritage Minors Variations come in two forms.

The first is a standard photo swap. For the most part, these are easy to spot if you’re familiar with the photos. The majority of base cards come with portrait photos while many of the Image Variations incorporate a little more action.

The second variation style, Frame Color, is a lot more stealth. These switch up the colors surrounding the photos on the front. Some has the inner and outer frames simply swap colors. Others have entirely different combinations.

Each of the variation types are tough to pull. According to the pack odds, both are 1:779 2021 Topps Heritage Minors packs. Both sets have ten cards with a lot of overlap of the same players between them.

An Easy Way for Backs to Confirm 2021 Topps Heritage Minors Variations

Typically, many collectors have gotten into the habit of squinting at the fine print on the bottom of Topps card back to determine whether it’s a variation. For Image SSP cards, that still might be the card. But Color Frame Variations are clearly labelled. The print might not be the biggest, but it’s bigger and it takes all guesswork out of variation hunting. All you need to do is look under the card number. In the rounded spot directly below, variations will say “Frame Color.”

Image Variations are a little more tricky as they don’t have the helpful label. So it’s to the fine print if you’re not 100 percent certain. Look at the end of the code that completes the couple of lines of copyright info. This can be used to differentiate different types of cards.
