2021 Topps Formula 1 Racing Checklist and Details
2021 Topps Formula 1 Racing tones down the slick and high-end elements. Instead it’s a flagship-style release in a similar vein to 2021 Topps Baseball. That means it stresses more on set building and basic inserts over premium hits and shiny Refractors like Topps’ previous mainstream F1 sets, 2020 Dynasty and 2020 Topps Chrome.
2021 Topps Formula 1 Checklist Overview
A total of 175 cards comprise the main 2021 Topps F1 base set. Besides traditional cards highlighting F1 racers, there are subsets that look at the previous season’s highlights such as F1 Award Winners and Grand Prix Winners. Formula 1 Freshest puts the spotlight on young racers.
Parallels come in several levels including Checker Flag, which are one per pack. Others include:
- Aqua – /199
- Blue – /99
- Gold – /50
- Orange – /25
- Black – /10
- Red – /5
- FoilFractor – 1/1
There are also Sparkle Foil parallels that are exclusive to blaster value boxes. Each box has four.
Select cards also have Image Variations. At a glance, these look like regular base cards but they use alternate photos and land with tougher odds.
Inserts
For collectors focusing primarily on autographs and memorabilia cards, 2021 Topps F1 doesn’t promise any at a per-box level. In fact, based on preliminary information put out by Topps, it appears that autographs are not part of the checklist at all.
There are randomly inserted F1 Relic Cards, though, that have pieces of memorabilia. These have Blue (/99), Gold (/50), Black (/10), Red (/5) and Foilfractor (1/1) parallels.
While hits are hard to come by, most hobby packs should have at least one insert. These are available in four themes, none of which are incredibly tough to pull.
Debrief (1:4.5 packs) pairs racers and team principals using schematics as the main design feature.
Also landing 1:4.5 packs is Topps 1961 Sports Cars, which go back five decades for its design inspiration. The focus here is on the cars themselves.
Precision on corners is what lands racers on the Apex Predators (1:6 packs) checklist.
Finally, there’s Flags of Foundation (1:9 packs), which showcases the international spirit of both F1 and F2 drivers and where they come from.
All four 2021 Topps Formula 1 insert sets have a similar mix of parallels:
