It has been a long time coming, but 2021 Topps Chrome Tennis is finally materializing. It shouldn’t be surprising that the company’s first standalone wide release for the sport takes the form of chrome. Also not a shocker is the presence of autographs and Refractors.
2021 Topps Chrome Tennis Checklist Overview
The core of the release is the base set, which has 100 cards. The checklist is a mix of current players, up-and-comers and legends. Like their earlier box set and 2020 Topps Transcendent, the product has the blessing of the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
Parallels come in more than a dozen colors and patterns:
- Refractors – 1:3 packs
- Black and White Mini-Diamond Refractors – 1:4 hobby LITE packs (hobby LITE only)
- Clay Court Refractors – 1:9 hobby packs (hobby only)

Autographs and Other Inserts
The 2021 Topps Chrome Tennis checklist does have autographs, but they’re tough and not guaranteed in every box.
Taking on the same design as the main set, base versions are numbered to 50. Parallels include Orange Refractors (/25), Rose Gold Refractors (/10), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1). All of these are only in regular hobby boxes.
Hobby LITE boxes are the lone place to find Black and White Mini-Diamond Refractors (/5) and Black and White RayWave Refractors (/5).
Three other insert sets are also in the product: Aces (1:6 hobby packs), Battle of the Baselines (1:18 hobby packs) and Rings of Honor (1:9 packs).
The trio has the same mix of three parallels: Orange Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).

About time Sir for some tennis to be represented in the hobby. Thank you Sir ?? ✌️
An interesting checklist for tennis. Topps might know baseball, but need some help for tennis. Many key players missing, as probably didn’t get permissions. But also some strange choices of players that were not overly relevant in 2021 or 2023 for that matter. Was really looking forward to a tennis product and a few good names, but overall list is somewhat underwhelming.
No Nadal, Fed or Djok?
BIG MISS! This could have been great. I don’t think I see a player that has won a grand slam event in the last 25 years on the checklist? No upcoming stars? Alcaraz, Rune, Swiatek, Medvedev, Rublev,. No present stars? Nadal, Djokovic? Topps/Fanatics completely missed the boat here. I was really looking forward to the new tennis sets by Topps. I love tennis but won’t buy this…
Really disappointing checklist with a lot of big names missing.
Swing and a miss on the checklist! Actually, topps just tried to bunt and struck out. It’s almost forgivable to not include the big 3 if they included some exciting young talent. Swiatek and Alcaraz are obviously missing, but how hard is it to obtain rights to Ben Shelton, Felix auger, rune, Medvedev, pegula, rybakina, Jaber, etc? Fils & halep are nice players but don’t move the needle. And throw away the hof guys from the 50s to 70s!! Except for laver, nobody is interested! Tennis is a different game from the stone age wooden racket days.
When a struggling coco and injured free-falling raducanu are the headliners you know you released a trash product. Topps, if you want to make real money, feel free to contact me OR listen to people who actually enjoy watching tennis. I understand the complexities of signing individual players who hail from all over the world, but take a little pride in your product.
