2021 Donruss Optic Baseball Glows Things Up

2021 Donruss Optic Baseball could be described as a chromium interpretation of 2021 Donruss. And that wouldn’t be wrong. But there’s more happening as well with colorful parallels, some different inserts and, as usual for the line, Rated Rookies autographs.

2021 Donruss Optic Baseball Checklist Overview

The base set consists of 200 total cards, however it’s broken down into three sections. Diamond Kings offer their usual artistic flair for 30 top players. The Rookie Cards run deep with 70 Rated Rookies. The remaining 100 cards are traditional player cards.

These all use layouts that are similar to the year’s main Donruss set but on Opti-chrome stock. The end result is a shiny finish similar to Panini Prizm and Bowman Chrome.

Prizms parallels come in more than a dozen varieties, adding not just color but patterns as well. It makes for a challenging chase, particularly for player collectors looking to round out as much of the rainbow as possible.

Prizms combine to land ten per hobby box. That averages one in every other pack.

Autographs and Other Inserts

Rated Rookie Signatures continue to be the main source of autograph content in Donruss Optic.

More than 70 players are on this part of the checklist. According to Panini, signatures are on-card.

Similar Rated Prospects Signatures highlight penmanship from minor leaguers including Jasson Dominguez and Spencer Torkelson.

Both Rated Rookies and Rated Prospects Signatures have a mix of parallels to go with base versions.

Retro Rated Rookie Signatures jump back in time to offer autographs of five legends from the past. Designs for these are based on the original Rated Rookie sets they originated from.

Signature Series Holo has more than 40 different autographs. This is where collectors can find veteran ink.

2021 Donruss Optic Baseball has several other insert sets that, together, average one per hobby pack.

Neon and Fort Knox are among the toughest.

There’s also Mythical, Lights Out and T-Minus 3…2…1.

Hot Boxes

There are two types of hot boxes in 2021 Donruss Optic Baseball.

Autograph hot boxes have five signed cards instead of the typical two. Prizm hot boxes have 20 numbered parallels.

Both types of hot boxes are two per hobby case. With 12 boxes in a case, approximately every third box has some sort of souped up content.

I have a album with Rookie baseball cards, that i bought from Wal-mart. Are these cards worth any thing, for me to keep collecting? If I get them graded be worth any thing are am I just waisting my time saving them. 1990 Donruss, even one on Craig Biggio, hall of famer. Some Topps cards as well. What should I do?
