2020 Topps Chrome Sapphire Formula 1 Checklist and Details
2020 Topps Chrome Sapphire Formula 1 puts a different, more limited spin on the main release. Available as an online exclusive, it puts a familiar patterned twist on the base set. It’s a near identical approach to what has been done with several baseball releases in the past and, more recently, Garbage Pail Kids and UEFA Soccer.
At its core, 2020 Topps Chrome Sapphire Formula 1 takes the entire 200-card base set and prints it on Sapphire stock. Basically, it’s a patterned background similar to what collectors will find on many of Topps’ Atomic Refractors or Panini’s Cracked Ice cards.
Additional parallels are available in different colors:
- Aqua – /99
- 70th Anniversary – /70
- Gold – /50
- Orange – /25
- Purple – /10
- Red – /5
- Padparadscha – 1/1
They combine with short print variations to land four per hobby box, which works out to 1:2 packs. Variations have similar parallels as the base set.
Boxes are exclusive to the Topps website. 582 Montgomery Club members got first crack with an exclusive presale on May 4. Each member had a limit of one box at a cost of $99.99. It was available briefly to the general public on May 5 before selling out.
