2020 Topps Chrome Black Baseball cards add another entry to the Chrome line. However, it’s not a new spin on the flagship set. It stands on its own, both in design and configuration. More of a cut-to-the-chase kind of product, boxes have just four cards including one autograph and one Refractor.

2020 Topps Chrome Black Baseball Base Set Basics

The base set isn’t like what you’ll find in the regular 2020 Topps Chrome Baseball. Yes, there is chromium, but the design is something that stands on its own. Besides the obvious black backdrop and overall dark elements, cards mix chrome with a matte finish. According to Topps, it’s a combination they haven’t done before.

The base set is a small one with just 100 cards. However, with just two per box, it’s not going to be nearly as easy as a traditional Topps Chrome set. Players are a mix of stars and rookies.

Refractor parallels are one per box. Regular Refractors have 199 copies each. The rainbow fills out with Green Refractors (/99), Blue Refractors (/75), Gold Refractors (/50), Orange Refractors (/25), Red Refractors, and Superfractors (1/1).

Autographs

The checklist is simple. Besides the base parallels, the only other inserts are two autograph themes.

The first are Topps Chrome Black Autographs. Featuring a mix of veterans, rookies and retired players, these keep with the dark design theme. Parallels include Refractors (/150), Green Refractors (/99), Gold Refractors (/50), Orange Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).

Young players are included in Super Futures Autographs (/99). These have a little more flair. The number of parallels are a little smaller here with Gold Refractors (/50), Orange Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).
