2020 Bowman Sterling Baseball Bringing Bulk Autographs

With the Bowman name attached, it shouldn’t be surprising to know that 2020 Bowman Sterling Baseball focuses heavily on rookies and prospects. Leaning on the higher end, autographs are much more plentiful that the main Bowman sets, falling one per pack (five per box).

2020 Bowman Sterling Baseball Base Set Basics

The base sticks with the rookies and prospects theme. In fact, that’s entirely what the 100 cards consist of. On one-side are 50 rookies. Joining them are 50 players working their way through the minors.

Like all cards in the set, these are done with chrome stock.

Parallels for both include:

  • Refractors – /199
  • Speckle Refractors – /99
  • Gold Refractors – /50
  • Blue Refractors – /25
  • Black Atomic Refractors – /10
  • Red Refractors – /5
  • Printing Plates – 1/1
  • Superfractors – 1/1

Autographs and Inserts

Not only are there lots of autographs in 2020 Bowman Sterling, but they’re all on-card.

Prospect Autographs and Rookie Autographs adapt the base set design. And like the main set, there are several parallels:

  • Refractors – /150
  • Wave Refractors – /125
  • Speckle Refractors – /99
  • Orange Refractors – /75
  • Gold Refractors – /50
  • Blue Refractors – /25
  • Black Atomic Refractors – /10
  • Red Refractors – /5
  • Superfractors – 1/1

Dual and Triple Refractor Autographs (/25) feature signatures from multiple players. These have Black Atomic Refractor (/10), Canary Diamond Refractor (/3), Red Refractor (1/1) and Superfractor (1/1) parallels.

Bowman Die-Cut Autographs (/99) change things up with their shape. Refractor parallels also have a slightly different approach than the rest of the product with Blue Glow (/25), Red Glow (/5) and Rainbow Glow (1/1) versions.

Sterling First Signs (/99) is a new insert set that didn’t appear in 2019. This is the one place on the checklist where veterans are shown. There’s a current photo in the foreground along with a shot from the past in the back. Some of these background shots may seems familiar, drawing from early Bowman cards.

Additional First Signs parallels include Gold Refractors (/50), Blue Refractors (/25), Black Atomic Refractors (/10), Red Refractors (/5), Printing Plates (1/1) and Superfractors (1/1).

Autograph versions are also available with their own Blue Refractor (/25), Black Atomic Refractor (/10), Red Refractor (/5) and Superfractor (1/1) parallels.

Thanks for the early look, Ryan. I am actually skipping the Bowman and Bowman Chrome sets this year to spend my money on Bowman Sterling and Topps Finest as I like the 2020 style much better for both of these. I will hop on the pre-sell list for Bowman Sterling as soon as it is available.
