If you didn’t have plans for February 23, you might now. That’s when 2019 Upper Deck National Hockey Card Day takes place. The hobby shop promotion returns, bringing with it new promotional sets for collectors in both Canada and the United States.

In a nutshell, if you visit a participating shop on February 23, you get a free pack of exclusive cards. Lots of shops also use it as a day for other specials and festivities as well.

Once again, there are different checklists for both sides of the border. They’re similar in their configurations, but the players are different and the themes get a slightly different twist.

2019 Upper Deck National Hockey Card Day Canada

For Canadian shops, the main checklist features 15 cards. It’s divided up into three subsets, each with five cards each: Canada’s Rookies, Pride of Canada and Hockey Heroes.

Appropriately, players come with a connection to the Great White North.

A 16th card featuring John Tavares making his Toronto debut completes the 2019 Upper Deck National Hockey Card Day Canada set. It’s available with a qualifying in-store purchase.

2019 Upper Deck National Hockey Card Day America

The American version of the set starts with a similar 15 cards. The subsets highlight the past, present and future of American players and stars from US-based teams. They include Stars in Stripes, American Heroes and America’s Rookies.
