As the line has done the past couple of years, the 2019 Panini Diamond Kings Baseball variations mix legends from several eras, veterans and young players.

They offer up a second card for 19 players (20 cards total as Gleyber Torres has a pair of variations).

In three instances, the players on the variation don’t line up with the number on the base set. The first Torres variation is found at #43, which is Corbin Burnes’ spot in the base set. Javier Baez is normally #150, but his variation has #44 on the back, which belongs to Roger Clemens in the base set. Wade Boggs doesn’t appear in the main set but he is a variation, replacing Ted Williams’ #22.

As far as parallels go, variations have the same mix as base cards. That means: Artist Proof, Artist Proof Blue, Blue Frame, Plum Frame, Red Frame, Artist Proof Masterpiece (1/1), and Black Frame (1/1).

Most of the 2019 Panini Diamond Kings Baseball variations are easy to spot with photo switches between batting and fielding or uniform colors. However, a couple are a little more tough with bat position being the easiest thing to spot on the front. For Vladimir Guerrero, it’s the color of his shin guard.

No matter the card, the backs make variation spotting simple and fast.

Using Gray Matter to Confirm Variations

If you’re sorting your cards, there’s a very easy way to spot 2019 Panini Diamond Kings Variations. Flip them over. Regular base cards have a brown wood frame.

If you have a variation, the frame is gray.

The difference is noticeable, even at a quick glance.

Nothing has been said about the numbers on the bottom/front of all the cards , to the left hand side in the box for the players name. the best i can tell the number is 9207… i was wondering if this has been corrected or not?
