2019 Panini Elite Extra Edition Baseball Is Big on Prospects, Autographs

2019 Panini Elite Extra Edition Baseball cards offer another dive into the sport’s prospects. While the latest draft class is front and center, the checklist also goes into the international baseball scene. As usual for the brand, hobby boxes feature lots of autographs — eight total across just five packs. Boxes also have a pair of memorabilia cards.

2019 Panini Elite Extra Edition Baseball Base Set Basics

The main set is a mix of 2019 draft picks and other prospects. This includes players from the Dominican Prospect League, which Panini holds an exclusive with. All base cards are numbered to 999 copies.

Cards have a dozen parallels, split evenly between Aspirations and Status Die-Cuts. Aspirations have 250 copies each with additional colors available in Red (/150), Orange (/100), Blue (/75), Tie-Dye (/25) and Gold (1/1). Status parallels are numbered to 125 and also have Red (/99), Blue (/75), Emerald (/49), Tie-Dye (/25) and Gold (1/1).

Autographs and Memorabilia Cards

Autographs carry the same general design as the base set. They also bring 14 additional levels of parallels. These start with Emerald (/49 or less), Tie-Dye (/10 or less) and Printing Plates (1/1). Aspirations autograph colors include Purple (/100 or less), Blue (/50 or less), Tie-Dye (/10 or less) and Gold (1/1). Status Die-Cuts carry over to the signatures in the form of Red (/75 or less), Emerald (/25 or less), Tie-Dye (/10 or less) and Gold (1/1).

Similar to what Panini has done over the past couple of years with Contenders and giving it a chromium makeover with Contenders Optic, 2019 Elite Extra Edition Baseball has Opti-Chrome Autographs (/99 or less). These also have additional Holo (/25 or less), Gold (/10 or less) and Gold Vinyl (1/1) parallels.

Future Threads Signatures (/299 or less) don’t have the Silhouettes theme this year but they still combine jumbo swatches and ink. Parallels include Orange (/149), Gold (/99 or less), Red (/49 or less), Purple (/25 or less), Emerald (/10 or less), Blue (/5 or less) and Platinum (1/1).

2019 Panini Elite Extra Edition Baseball Future Threads Signatures

Dominican Prospect League players have a couple of places on the checklist with signatures outside of the main Base Autographs. DPL Signatures have on-card ink while DPL Jumbo Material Autographs feature memorabilia.

2019 Panini Elite Extra Edition Baseball has USA Baseball autographs as well with Collegiate Tickets, Collegiate Silhouette Autographs and National Team Signatures, which have players from the 15U and 18U squads.

As far as relic inserts go, there’s Triple Silhouettes, DPL Jumbo Materials, First Round Materials and Hidden Gems.

Back in August I was trying to decide what to purchase between Bowman Chrome and Elite Extra Edition, which is the product I have gone after the past two years. Looks like I made the correct decision for 2019 as I do not like wood grain in anything I buy!
