The 2018-19 Upper Deck Series 1 Triple Exposure Variations hearken back to one of the company’s early signature styles. Select players have a short print version of their base card that has a different image. In fact, the variations get their name for have three images.
Multiple exposure cards go back to Upper Deck’s first set, 1989 Upper Deck Baseball. There’s Nolan Ryan going through the motion, literally. Over the course of three images, it goes from wind up to follow through. It’s a signature effect that Upper Deck has used regularly over the years.
The 2018-19 Upper Deck Series 1 Triple Exposure Variations join the list of the product’s surprise Easter Eggs. Randomly inserted in Series 1 Hockey packs, they arrive as a surprise insert that wasn’t listed on the final checklist put out by the company. Neither insertion rates or print runs have been announced. One thing that is known, though, is they are tough.
