2017 Topps Opening Day Variations Gallery
The 2017 Topps Opening Day variations mark the fifth consecutive year for the short prints. Like flagship Topps and a handful of other sets each year, the focus is on offering alternate photos for select base cards.

Opening Day variations may not gain quite the same level of traction as comparable SSPs in the main Topps release or Topps Heritage, but they do offer a hunt that are usually most popular with team and player collectors.
The theme here is that there isn’t a defined theme. The photos standout as being somewhat out of the ordinary. From batting cage close-ups to pitchers with bats to pink suit jackets, there’s a lot of variety.
2017 Topps Opening Day variations are not easy to find. They fall 1:256 packs. That’s about 1:7 boxes or two to three per 2017 Topps Opening Day Baseball case.
It’s worth noting that 2017 Topps Opening Day has some additional inserts that are similar to variations but are on their own. Both the National Anthem and Stadium Signatures sets have a front design that’s like both the base cards and variations but with separate numbering. They’re both extremely tough pulls like the variations.
2017 Topps Opening Day Variations Checklist
Variations have not been announced in advance or confirmed by Topps. We’ll be adding to this list for the immediate future until both the checklist and gallery are complete. At this point, we think we’re getting close.
If you have a lead on any 2017 Topps Opening Day baseball variations, please feel free to drop us an email (scans are appreciated) and we’ll add it to the list.

I was going to chase these variations, but seems there are too many…
I’m gonna just try to put togher the National Anthem set, which could still be very very expensive.
I love the pictures on these variation SPs and SP inserts though. Topps really outdid themselves on this low-end product IMO. Price is right, and the thrill of chase is there.
Are the different variations strictly the ones in this article?
It sure makes collecting for the base set interesting. Thanks Topps.
These are the ones we’ve confirmed so far. But at such long odds and so many, individual cards look to be pretty scarce. Currently, we’re at 42. Usually these come in round numbers so maybe 50? Maybe?
I just gotba aaron judge autograph card from an opening day 2017 pack that i bought from wslmart. It says on it topps certified autograph.
What is the print run on Bryce Harper, white cleat and book value?
@Wayne – Print runs haven’t been released. The price guide can be accessed here (subscription required): https://www.beckett.com/price-guides/baseball
