Base Set

2016 Topps High Tek Baseball Base Pair

All cards in 2016 Topps High Tek Baseball are printed on acetate with foil backgrounds. This includes base cards.

Each players comes with multiple pattern variations. These tiers come in varying quantities with Pattern 1 being the most common. The target here is largely player and team collectors. Not only that, but the checklist is split in half with one group having certain patterns and the other group with different backgrounds. Sound confusing? Check this article out about that has a gallery of patterns and who’s in what group.

Parallels for the main base version include Tidal Diffractor, Green Rainbow, Orange Magma (/25), Black Rainbow (1/1), Black Galactic Diffractor (1/1) and Printing Proofs (1/1). There’s also a Gold Rainbow parallel that’s exclusive to special edition Asia boxes.

Select players also have short print Home Uniform Variations. This year, they’re serial numbered. This will not only offer up exact quantities but make them a little easier to spot.

Autographs

2016 Topps High Tek Baseball Autograph Gold Rainbow

All autographs in 2016 Topps High Tek Baseball are signed on-card and feature veterans, rookies and retired stars. Base autographs have the same general design as base cards and have the following parallels: Gold Rainbow, Orange Magma Diffractor (/25), Red Orbit Diffractor (/5), Black Galactic Diffractor (1/1) and Printing Proofs (1/1). Sky Blue parallels (/20) also exist, but they’re only in boxes distributed in Japan and other parts of Asia.

Tek Buybacks are signed cards from the product’s original run from 1998 to 2000. Both base cards and Diffractor parallels are included. All have been serial numbered.

2015 Tek was my biggest loss ever on a multi case break and I had some really nice hits. Except 2016 to be a total dud with a weak rookie class.
