2016 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball Checklist and Details

Share:

2016 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball has your rookies, your traded players and a little bit more. One of the Heritage brand’s drawbacks as an early release is that it misses some of the early-season debuts. Checklists can be roughed in and assets gathered when some free agent stragglers make up their minds. High Number changes that.

2016-Topps-Heritage-High-Number-Baseball-Header

Sticking with a lot of similar elements as 2016 Topps Heritage release, it maintains the look of 1967. Also like the main release, autographs and memorabilia cards combine to land one per hobby box.

Base Set

2016 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball Base David Price

Another 225 cards have been added for 2016 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball base set. Picking up where the original set left off, the numbering starts at 501 and wraps up at 725. The final 25 cards are short prints combining to land 1:3 packs.

Parallels are the same as before, including Red Backs, and hobby-only Gum Stain Back and Reverse (or Flip) Stock. Gum backs have intentional residue left on them that have a scratch-and-sniff effect that smells like old-school gum. Reverse Stock cards are printed like the sheet has been flipped around. So fronts feel like backs normally do and backs are like fronts.

A couple of 50-card partial parallels also exist. Mini Base are numbered to 100 copies. Chrome return, numbered to 999. These also have Refractor (/567), Black (/67) and Gold (/5) parallels. Special Hot Boxes have their own exclusive Refractor.

On the variations front, 2016 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball has 15 Action Image and 25 Color Swaps. Expect these to follow a similar path as the matching variations from the main set. In addition to those that were announced ahead of time, Error and Throwback Uniform Variations also return.

Autographs

2016 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball Real One Autographs

Other than cuts, all autographs in 2016 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball are signed on-card. Real One Autographs have a mix of current and retired players. Once again, Red Ink parallels are numbered to 67. A handful of Real One Dual Autographs (/25) are also in the product.

Cut Signatures come in a couple of forms. In both, all cards are one-of-ones. 1967 Baseball Cut Signatures delve into players and luminaries from the era. 1967 Celebrity Cut Signatures feature singers and other famous pop culture icons.

Memorabilia Cards

2016 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball Clubhouse Collection Autographed Relic

Clubhouse Collection continues to be the theme for Heritage game-used cards. Base Clubhouse Collection cards have either a jersey swatch or bat piece. Gold parallels are numbered to 99. Dual (/65), Triple (/25) and Quad (/10) relics combine players from the same franchise.

Like regular signed cards in the product, Autograph Relics (/25) and Dual Autograph Relics (/10) have on-card signatures.

Inserts

2016 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball Rookie Performers

2016 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball has a quartet of regular inserts in packs to go with everything else. Rookie Performers highlight top standouts featured on their MLB-recognized rookie cards in 2016. Now and Then pairs up current players with similar counterparts from 1967. Combo Cards also take a multi-player approach, albeit focused on specific teams. Finally, Award Winners cast a late spotlight on those who took home hardware in 2015.

Box Loaders

2016 Topps Heritage High Number hobby boxes also include a box loader that is sort of like a bonus. 1967 Ad Panels are strips of three cards. 1967 Topps Originals are stamped buybacks. 1967 Topps Punchboards return as well. Base versions of the over-sized cards are numbered to 50. There are also Jumbo Patch Relics (/25), Autograph (/10) and Jumbo Patch Autographs (/10).

WE’D RATHER PANINI ..They include all 30 teams in the autos, also they dont waste money and time on useless players that will be out of that uniform by the time half these packs afe even open…Topps…how about quality instead of garbage quantity ughhh

I love Topps Heritage, it takes me back to my childhood! But why do they insist on wasting cards in the high number set, by including players who were in the regular set, with the same team? This year, it’s Jeff Samardzija and Aaron Sanchez, both with the same team in the base set and the high numbers?

There are plenty of players who’ve never been on a Heritage card, such as Martin Maldonado and Marwyn Gonzalez. I’d rather see them!

Last year, it was the same thing, with Jimmy Rollins and a pitcher with the Tigers.

Don’t waste the limited number of cards you produce!

Ben Zobrist is #564 in the base set, but #668 in the Chrome and mini subsets. This is causing checklist confusion on the Beckett site for the Chad Kuhl base set cards and parallels that are #668.
