2016 Topps Five Star Baseball Checklist and Details

Share:

2016 Topps Five Star Baseball maintains the smaller box configuration it started with last year. Although it may make boxes a little more accessible, this is still one of the most expensive baseball brands from Topps.

And what does it bring?

2016 Topps Five Star Baseball Header

All autographs. Every 2016 Topps Five Star Baseball has two signed cards. And if it’s not a cut, it’s an on-card signature.

The base equivalent in the release is Five Star Autographs. These highlight current players, rookies and retired stars. Parallels come in a few levels including Gold (/50), Rainbow (/25) and Emerald (/5). There are also 2016 Topps Five Star Five Star Autograph Five Star parallels that are one-of-ones.

The general design of these, as well as other parts of the product, are reminiscent of a Topps Tribute release minus the shimmering card stock. However, the lines and accents bring a sort of art deco feel.

Golden Graphs and Silver Signatures both return with a darkened signing area to help the gold and silver signatures jump out. Purple (/25), Blue (/20), Green (/15), Gold (/10), Orange (/5) and Red (1/1) make up the parallels.

New to 2016 Topps Five Star Baseball is Heart of a Champion. The checklist here is limited to players who had outstanding postseasons at some point in their career. All are numbered to 25 or less. One-of-one Inscriptions are the lone parallels.

The product has a small number of autographed memorabilia cards as well. Five Star Autographed Jumbo Patches mix an over-sized swatch with an on-card signature. Base versions have no more than 25 copies while parallels come in Gold (/10), Rainbow (/5) and Five Star (1/1).

Silhouetted Batter Logo Patch Autographs are all one-of-ones. As the name implies, they come with a patch of the MLB logo.

A limited number of Cut Signatures of all-time greats are included in 2016 Topps Five Star Baseball. These all have one copy each.

Man what’s happened to reggies signature? sign of the times I guess. He used to have a beautiful autograph!

  2. Bill 4 October, 2016 at 14:34

Reggie’s signature is much nicer in person. They must have used a bad computer scan to show his autograph on the mock-up card.
