2016 Topps Crossover Checklist and Details
2016 Topps Crossover combines two things the card maker has been experimenting with in recent years — digital and on-demand cards. The set’s cards are released simultaneously on a corresponding app as digital cards and as physical cards on the Topps website.
Similar to 2016 Topps Now and 2016 Topps Throwback Thursday Baseball, cards are available for a limited time. Here, it’s one week. Print runs for the physical cards are limited to those that are ordered during this time.
Weekly sets of six physical cards are $19.99. Lots of three weekly sets get a discount, running $49.99.
Mixing up digital and physical is nothing new. However, in the past it has usually been done by porting over physical cards to the app. It’s also done at different times. There’s also the physical 2016 Topps Bunt Baseball release but that is more a way of mixing digital content into a physical product. 2016 Topps Crossover is done with both formats in mind at the same time.
The first set of 2016 Topps Crossover cards was Splatter Art. It’s a new design that hasn’t been used before. On the app side, cards are inserted 1:15 Splatter Art packs. A total of 30 digital Splatter Art cards will be released over the set’s run. An additional card is available as a reward to those who collect all 30 of the digital card.
2016 Topps Crossover isn’t limited to just baseball, though. It branches apps like Star Wars Card Trader, Kick, WWE Slam, and The Walking Dead Card Trader. In fact, Week 2 jumped to Kick with PL Transfers. The six cards here highlight players with new Premier League clubs.
From there, things shifted to UFC with a series dedicated to the UFC 202 match between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
It was back to baseball for Weeks 4 and 5. First was the introduction of Bunt Vapor, another color group of cards featuring popular MLB stars. Then it was Bunt Universe, which used a bright space theme to showcase intimidating players.
Bunt Vitality was the theme for late-September’s sixth week. Clutch players were the focus.

This seems like a waste. Upper Deck’s digital crossover is much more collector-friendly.
