2016 Topps Archives 65th Anniversary Baseball Checklist and Details

2016 Topps Archives 65th Anniversary Baseball is another Walmart-exclusive joining 2016 Topps Holiday Baseball. The checklist highlights the various designs and many of the company’s historic cards over the years.

2016 Topps Archives 65th Anniversary Box

The product comes as 16-card boxes. An autograph is guaranteed in each.

The base set has, appropriately enough, 65 cards. That’s one for each year of the flagship releases from 1952 through 2016. Base cards are essentially reprints of the regular cards.

They do have three levels of parallels that can be spotted by the backs. Green Back cards are numbered to 150. Red Backs have 50 copies each while Black Backs are all one-of-ones.

Ten cards have variation short prints with different images. They’re also numbered differently on the back so they shouldn’t be too hard to spot, even if you’re not familiar with old cards.

Ten rookies from 2016 also have cards where they’re depicted using old designs. Of these, only Corey Seager appears in the base set. Select Rookie Variations also have autographed versions.

The Base Autograph checklist has only 29 players. Highlights include Ken Griffey Jr., Mike Trout and Buster Posey. It also has one of the first Masahiro Tanaka autographs from the card maker. That said, not all of the autograph signers are all-time greats. Like main Topps Archives products, a lot of the names stem from era local favorites. These include the likes of Jeff Conine, Jose Rijo, Buck Dent and Kent Tekulve. If the product sticks with other releases, these lesser stars will likely be the ones the show up most frequently.

Base Autographs have parallels similar to the base set as well as Printing Plates.

Buybacks of original Topps cards are also randomly inserted.

I just bought a box. The collation is terrible. Out of 14 base cards, I got 4 doubles in the same pack. That is mid 90s bad. Oh and the cool “vintage” buyback card was a 2012 Gypsy Queen Rod Carew. A 4 year old card that I probably could have gotten in a repack on the same Wal Mart shelf.

opened 3 boxes lots of doubles. My autos were Miguel Sano R/C Vern Law and sandy Alomar sr. also got two greenbacks numbered to /150 not 15 they were Sandy Alomar sr and Jeff Connie.

are all the buybacks from this set stamped gold? I got a 2005 opening day Pujols. I just don’t get these stamps. I’ve never pulled a black or gold one (1 of 1) so only silver and blue. This set must just use gold stamps on all of their buybacks

I just purchased two boxes of the TOPPS 65th Anniversary Cards for $50. With great anticipation I opened both packs relatively quickly and then settled in to look at them carefully. Long story short, if someone had shown me the cards in advance and said I could buy all 32 of them for $5 I would have said they were crazy.
These just might be the two worst boxes of cards I have bought in the last 35 years.

4boxes for x-mas..auots were Jose Cruz jr, Jose Cruz jr, Jose Cruz sr, Jose canseco… No lie…4 Charlie hayes’, 4 Bucky dents, 4 tatie…etc…steaming boxes. I give up on topps….will spend money on artisan fire pit and throw their products of the last 30 yrs in it…#bitter and angry

To those of you complaining about getting duplicates in the same box, consider this; there’s 60 cards to the set and 16 cards per box. It’s to be expected!

Also, when will this be in Beckett?
