2015 Topps UK Star Wars Journey to the Foce Awakens Foil Rey

By Ryan Cracknell | Hobby Editor

2015 Topps Star Wars: Journey to the Force Awakens has already positioned itself as one of the bigger sets for the franchise in a very busy year. It turns out there’s a second set boasting the same name but an entirely different look and feel. And it comes from the other side of the Atlantic. The European arm of Topps has released their own Journey to the Force Awakens set that’s much simpler than its North American counterpart.

Although not a collectible card game, the set-up of the Journey to the Force Awakens UK set is closer to something from their Force Attax line.

Like the North American release, the main hook is the fact that it previews some of the characters from the new film.

The main 2015 Topps UK Star Wars: Journey to the Force Awakens set has 207 cards. These include base, Mirror Foil and Rainbow Foil designs. Eight-card packs, which carry a relatively low price tag (at least in Europe), come with one of the foil cards.

The checklist breaks down to focus largely on the original trilogy. The first 47 cards cover A New Hope. The Empire Strikes Back is #48-96 while Return of the Jedi is #97-145. Noticeable by their absence are Jar Jar and the rest of the prequel characters.

The Force Awakens is showcased on 15 basic cards starting at #146.

2015 Topps UK Star Wars: Journey to the Force Awakens doesn’t have much in the way of inserts. Mirror Foil (#161-191) and Rainbow Foil (#192-207) cards have a slightly more premium feel, but not by much. They mix characters and vehicles from the original trilogy and The Force Awakens.

The only other cards are a handful of limited edition cards. Four different are included in regular packs. A starter set that comes with a basic binder and tins also have their own exclusive Limited Edition cards. These have the same general look of the foil cards.

Topps UK has additional products for The Force Awakens that are currently in the planning stages. A set of stickers is scheduled for December and a series of Force Attax game cards will be out early in 2016.

    Hi Ryan

In the event that no one has emailed you about the 2 missing cards in your list, they are:

    176 – Admiral Ackbar
    188 – R2-D2

    Cheers

R2-D2 and Chewbacca can be added to the list of “limited edition” cards – these have been seen on ebay (making the collection 216 so far – that is the number of card pockets in the official binder (9 x 24 pages) but there could still be more?

Just updated to bring the list to 10. That appears to be all that there are unless more are added down the road.

Hi am in Australia and we received the UK or European Version. I bought the collector tin comes with 48 cards, I special shaped card. Not a single double in the tin. Cost $25 so about 50c per card. If I want to buy the packs I get 5 cards for $6 – $1.20 per card ! I want to buy another tin to get better value but am not sure if every single tin contains the same cards hence forcing you to buy packs. Does anyone know?

Some woolworths stores are selling the 5 card packs for $2 each! As yet have only found one store selling them :(

    G’day.
When i started collecting this set about a month ago, they come in a 3 pack from Coles.

Here’s the kicker they were 8 card’s per packet now they are 5 card per pack and the odds are different on the packet’s. I dont have a old empty packet with the odd’s but youtube it and see for yourself.

So the value of the cards will go up because they change the odds for limited edition from 1/35 to now 1/50 ?
anyone out there could give some feedback would be good ty.

Got a tin with a shape card, mine is a stormtrooper no doubles but only bought one tin from kmart.

    hey ranga

also collecting this set from australia. the odds have changed for hits depending on the amount of cards in the pack, so when the card amount per pack dropped from 8 to 5, the odds were harder, from 1:35 to 1:50 (because there are less cards in the pack). i think this is how it works

Hi I have two other limited edition cards from Germany C-3PO and Darth Vader you can see them in my ebay on ebay i am selling them with the fall set of force awakens cards.
In Germany they also have collectors tins that are not on sale in uk.

The keyhole shaped cards that only come in the 3 normal size tins should probably be included. They are composed of the following:
    Kylo Ren
    Rey
    Stormtrooper

The same 3 are in the German edition as well as the UK one, and there is no language difference between either (you could use one set for the other and not know)

I can also confirm that the German version also includes two extra Limited Edition cards. Darth Vader and C3P0.

I have also just found out that there is a Spanish version as well. It seems to have the same characteristics as the English and German. I do not know if there are extra Limited Edition cards outside the normal 10.

    Update!

I tried to email info@toppsdirect.com, but they never seem to respond back. So, I don’t know what the official checklist for the Limited Edition cards are, but I can confirm the following:

There are at least 4 language versions of these cards: English, German, Spanish and French.
I currently have the collectable folders for all 4, and have all the base cards (including foil and rainbow foil) for the first 3 and slowly completing the same for the French version.

As far as I can tell, the list of Limited Edition cards for the English version is the one stated above. The German one seems to lack R2D2 (at least, I can’t find any reference to one) but includes both Darth Vader and C3P0 (exclusive to the German). The Spanish and French versions seem to lack the cards whose id starts with U (i.e. Chewbacca-UA, Yoda-UB, and R2D2-UC.) Again, this is all I can figure out from what I can find and buy. In addition, all 4 languages do have the 3 shaped limited edition cards (as mentioned in previous comments), and it seems they are interchangeable between language versions (they have nothing on them that is specific to one language or another.
