2015 Topps Star Wars 3D Widevision: Revenge of the Sith Details
2015 Topps Star Wars 3D Widevision: Revenge of the Sith continues to fill in the gaps that showcases the franchise in a format that’s bigger and uses modern lenticular technology. Like the similar Return of the Jedi Widevision 3D set that came out last year, it’s an online exclusive — and a limited one at that.
Packaged as a premium-style factory set, each comes with 44 base cards, a sketch card and one additional premium insert.
2015 Topps Star Wars 3D Widevision: Revenge of the Sith is limited to 2,000 copies. This is the same as ROTJ Widevision 3D, which was done in a similar online-only format. The set went on sale on the Topps website on August 18.
Base Set
The base set isn’t very big. With just 44 cards, it gets to the heart of the story as Anakin delves deeper into the Dark Side, culminating in the creation of one of history’s great fictional villains.
Living up to the Widevision name, all are done in a larger tallboy format.
Lenticular cards have come a long way since the often murky Sportflics of the 1980s and several revival (and competing) attempts in the 1990s. As demonstrated by ROTJ, the 3D images today are much clearer.
Inserts
Each 2015 Topps Star Wars 3D Widevision: Revenge of the Sith set also comes with a pair of premium inserts.
The first is a sketch card. Like the rest of the set, these are done with the same tallboy format. With it comes a larger canvas for artists to work on.
Building off of the Sketch Relics introduced in ROTJ Widevision 3D are Sketch Medallions. These start as a manufactured relic and come with original art like a traditional sketch card.
Collectors can also find basic Medallion cards. Characters include Anakin, Darth Vader, Yoda, Chewbacca, General Grievous, R2-D2, C-3PO and Clone Troopers. Each Medallion card has bronze, silver and gold versions.
2015 Topps Star Wars 3D Widevision: Revenge of the Sith has approximately 500 autographs spread across its production run. Ian McDiarmid (Chancellor Palpatine), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) headline the list of nine signers. There’s also Bai Ling who played Senator Bana Breemu in a scene that was cut. Another interesting signer is Jeremy Bulloch. Although the actor has signed for many Star Wars sets in the past, it’s usually as Boba Fett. Here he plays Captain Colton.

Over-sized Patch Cards return as the final potential insert. Started in ROTJ Widevision 3D, these use a similar style to original wax wrappers. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader, R2-D2 and C-3PO are all featured on cards. These have both Silver and Gold (1/1) parallels.
