McDavid Draft

On September 1, hockey’s brightest prospects will be heading to Toronto for the 2015 NHLPA Rookie Showcase and for the past seven years, this event has seen many of today’s top stars pose for their first NHL and NHLPA-licensed trading cards. This year’s edition will feature 40 big names with Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers and Jack Eichel of the Buffalo Sabres leading the pack.

The players will take to the ice at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, which fans will recognize as being the site of the former Maple Leaf Gardens. They will pose in their NHL jerseys for photographers from Upper Deck and participate in some unique activities which aim to keep the event fun for the players. It serves as an opportunity for them to learn about the world of trading cards as they sign for future releases.

“In what is being called the best rookie class in a decade, Upper Deck is pulling out all the stops to make the 2015 NHLPA Rookie Showcase event an incredible experience for players and fans,” said Upper Deck’s Senior Marketing and Social Media Manager, Chris Carlin. “On the player side we are looking to treat the guys to some memorable private events where they can get to know each other and the expectations that will be placed on them from the collectibles category during the season. It is also an incredible opportunity for us to acquire photography of the players in their new uniforms, autographs for early season products, promotional signed items for upcoming events, video interviews and photo shoot-worn memorabilia. For the fans we will be hosting a variety of online interactive events where fans can ask players questions through Twitter & Facebook, get to know the players with live online breaks and for some lucky fans, get to see the players in action at the Rookie Photo Shoot. It is going to be an incredible start to a very memorable season.”
