2015-16 Panini Luxe Basketball Porzingis

By Stephen Laroche | Beckett Basketball Editor

Panini America had some favorable reaction to a new brand last season and 2015-16 Panini Luxe Basketball looks to build on what made it a hit with some collectors.

With an average of four premium cards per box, the hits will be either hard-signed autographs or memorabilia cards. Each one is numbered to 99 copies or less.

Autographs

Each pack of 2015-16 Panini Luxe Basketball contains at least two autographs. One of them is expected to be a metal-framed card. Last year, Panini tried this type of card for the first time and the sequel contains colored parallels like Ruby, Sapphire, and Gold in addition to the one-of-one Black edition.

The inked goodness goes to another level with DeLuxe autographed inserts. Signatures from rookies and veterans in this collection are numbered to 25 copies or less.

Memorabilia

The memorabilia hits inside of 2015-16 Panini Luxe Basketball carry over the Memorabilia Die-Cuts from 2014-15, but there is a new horizontal design. Other sets for this release include Memorabilia Prime and Rookie Jerseys Prime.

Also in 2015-16 Panini Luxe Basketball are Rookie Memorabilia Autographs and Rookie Jumbo Jersey Autographs. These cards have Prime parallels with oversized pieces (/25 or less).

Panini needs to convince MJ and LeBron to leave Upper Deck. Then these products, especially the uber-expensive ones, will sell much better.

I think Luxe is an awesome product, but all these products sell by the box/case WAY more than the cards are worth
