Past and present collide in 1984 Donruss Champions Baseball, a new addition to the company’s lineup. Like the year’s Action All-Stars, this is another oversized set. The 60-card checklist breaks down to highlight several statistical categories and records.

This is where the timelines collide. The first card in each subset is the all-time leader, or Grand Champion, allowing the likes of Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle and Hank Aaron to appear. These leader cards are all Diamond Kings-esque with paintings by Dick Perez.

Active leaders at the time fill out the checklist. These resemble more traditional baseball cards with photographs. Image choices are a mix of action shots and portraits.

1984 Donruss Champions Baseball cards are similar to postcards in their dimensions, measuring 3.5″ by 5″.

In addition to five cards, each pack also has a panel of three Duke Snider puzzle pieces. These are the same as the ones used to make the 63-piece puzzle in the main 1984 Donruss Baseball set.
