The 1996-97 Leaf Preferred set was issued in one series totaling 150 cards. Suggested retail on packs was $3.49, which included five standard cards and one metal card. Card fronts featured color action photos, a small team logo, and the player's name in team colors. One edge was also enhanced with etched silver foil with the Leaf Preferred logo. Key RCs included Dainiuis Zubrus and Sergei Berezin.
