The 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee set featured 340 standard-size cards that were printed in Canada. The set featured players from the expansion New York Islanders and Atlanta Flames. Unopened packs consisted of eight cards plus a bubble-gum piece. Tan borders on the front included the team name on the left-hand side. Bilingual backs featured a year-by-year record of the player's career, a short biography and a cartoon-illustrated fact about the player. There were a number of In-Action (IA) cards of popular players distributed throughout the set. Card number 208 was never issued. The last series (290-341), which was printed in lesser quantities, featured players from the newly formed World Hockey Association. Based upon uncut sheets that are known and observed, there were apparently 22 double-printed cards in the first series (1-110) and 22 known double-printed cards in the second series (111-209). These cards were identified by DP in the checklist below. [Collapse]
