Top 10 Michael Jordan Basketball cards...................

Top 10 Michael Jordan Basketball cards...................
There is absolutely no way, that his new cards will keep up with cards from his playing days. Let BVs be alone, thats not even the issue here, as people already pay 1200 USD for a 500 USD MJ-Insert from the 90s. Even minor inserts consistently rise above BV in final sale prices. But thats from his playing days with the Bulls, no newer stuff.

Look on that other site for MJ-autos priced below 400 USD. Already only cards from beyond his playing days with the one exception of the 1996 SPX Autos, where you can really get some steals, if they appear.... And the new cards ? Last night an Exquisite-On-Card-Auto numbered to 10 of MJ and current NBA-champ Kevin Garnett ended at 340.77 USD from a 1000+ feedback seller. Thats a good price ? A BGS 9 06-07 SP Signature sold for 225.50 USD. Great price here ?

Average selling prices for the 1997 SPX Promotion /100 exceed 1000 USD, 1997 UD3 Court Commemorative gets close to 1k, Season Ticket as well. So, its already a reality, that these cards are worth more then his newer ones.

When people will take a look in the year 2015 and beyond they will more and more realize, that we have as few as 500 to a max. of 1000 MJ-Autos outstanding from his playing days with the Bulls. All of his other Autos past these days may amount to 100.000 easily by that time.

The market always outweighs supply and demand. And if supply is in no doubt, prices will fall. But if supply is short, prices will rise. Subsequently prices for new cards will continue to fall  and prices for old cards will continue to rise.

No, sorry. Will continue to disagree as a whole., and within good reason. *Maybe* MJ's "lighter" new issues/sticker auto's, etc. will decrease. Enter: Exquisite. Mike stopped playing how long ago? A nice Jordan patch/auto or just auto will outsell pretty much any Jordan "playing" day cards with the exception of that very first year auto/patch, etc.

"Playing days" cards... Sounds like a few of you have a slight case of OCD.

Hey, actually there were no Autos of MJ made when he was playing. All of them were issued AFTER he retired. But then He un-retired in 1995 until 1997 when he retired again, so all the cool issues from 98-99s were issued AFTER he retired. But wait, he un-retired again in 2001, so really that is a bad example. I'd side with you on the demand for his playing day cards, but he did play 2 years in Washington and there are TONs of buyers out there for his Wizards issues.

Go ahead and tell that someone, who is paying high USD for vintage Baseball cards, old paintings, old coins, etc. They will laugh at that theory, turn around and continue to look financially solid. Because they own something rare original (here it would be around 500 MJ-autos from his playing days) vs. "all the others", who own one of the 100.000 or so autos produced later.

There is a reason, why "old stuff" in nearly every hobby sets the standard. Supply is short and in many cases there was something new created. Anything coming after that, is rarely in as high demand as the original.

Regarding Exquisite. Sure, in the beginning they paid high dollars for these cards. As they always do with something new, that many believe in. But then prices will fall. Same with MJ cards from the 90s. The 97-98 Metal Universe PMG Green /10 sold as high as 25k in the 90s. It now seems to have hit bottom at around 5k. Show us an Exquisite MJ Auto /10 that got even close to 25k ?
Once the "new-tag" vanishes, prices will drop. But then at some point, if your item proves really rare and demand is consistent, prices hit bottom and turn. But how can an Exquisite-Auto of MJ be rare, if 50+ of them sold over on that other site in the past 2 weeks alone ?

For quite some time now, rare MJ-inserts from the 90s consistently sell above high BV and prices continue to rise. His Autos start to follow that trend. 2 from his playing days (1997 SPX Promotion, 1996-97 UD 3 Court Comm.) are on eBay right now, so lets see were they finish.

Interest at least is quite high, as right now among the 10 most watched MJ-trading cards are only cards produced until the 2000-01 season. With the exception of an 03-04 Logoman 1/1 in 3rd place. The top spots are owned by the aforementioned Top-10-All-Time-Cards 1999 SPX Winning Materials JSY-SHOE-AU /23 with 63 watchers and his 1997 SPX Promotion Auto with 62 watchers. First Exqusite card ? Takes 21st place with only 30 watchers.

Make no mistake, the only one laughing here is me at you.

Also- it looks to me like you "forgot" to cite your source in that last paragraph, not to mention your inability to specify which first Jordan Exquisite card you speak of. There are about a handful. His noble nameplate auto /25 clears 3-4k *when* they pop up on ebay, that being just one example.

I can't wait to hear about this supposed popularity site you speak of, because I know it isn't www.mostpopularcards.com

Bottom line, you can try to justify your "point" by swaying the topic to other areas like vintage baseball cards all you want, but in the end you'll have to find your way back to reality, in which case is the fact that we are talking about Michael Jordan here. Not some hype driven machine or any other name, but the greatest athlete of our time. "Playing day" cards as an exception to the rest? Yeah... good luck with that.

Snyper 5. You can laugh as long as you want to.

But i do hope for you, that its not wasted time, because your Exquisite-Autos are dropping in price, while the old stuff continues to climb.

Also, why do you need a source, if you have your own ? Whats that all about ? My source is www.watchcount.com  But if our sources are correct, why should there be a difference ? And both sources value cards listed at this moment only. Why should we care about how it would be with an exquisite xxx ? Truth is, that the first exquisite card of over 50 listed at this time is in 22nd place right now. Does not show, that there is huge interest out there. Interest in Exquisites is limited, but Exquisite cards are not, as they continue to produce them. All books about markets will tell you, that prices have to drop under these conditions. One does not have to be a genius to understand that.

And yet another response with 100% of the same rehashed claims and theories. Round and round we go. This is pointless even responding to this. My laugh has come down to a yawn at best. What's funny is I WISH you were right about Exquisite type Jordans getting less expensive! My GOD that would be so sweet because I would be hoarding them! But the simple FACT is they aren't. Period. Until they do, best of luck with your schematics, statistics, and so forth. lol

As Snyper5 continues to laugh, the market continues to rule. Anybody can watch it on a daily basis.

The aforementioned 1997 SPX Promotion Auto /100 went for 1225 USD last week, a good deal above its 3-year-average. An 07-08 Exquisite Auto of MJ and Walt Frazier went for 316 USD around that time, marking new lows for Exqusite Autos.

You dont have to mention that you dont care about statistics, Snyper 5, because if you would do, you would have a different opinion. Until then, keep on laughin... at least its healthy. Thats what i like about it.

I see another SPX Promotion card for auction now. It has all the UD certificates but not numbered? Anyone know why? I see the other $1200 one was sold from Asia, I know they sometimes do strange things with cards. Please let me know I may use the Buy it Now.
