RE: Trading Philosophy 101
I am certainly guilty of this, but as traders, we have the right to trade or not trade whatever we have in our organize. I think we all know that BV is simply a gauge for fair trading, not the law. I think we also know that BV is not necessarily current market value. Just because something is listed for trade should not give obligation to the owner to trade that card for anything selected. I do not agree that trading BV for BV or HOF for HOF should be the law of the land, but I also understand why certain people want to trade that way. We all value our collection differently, and that is reflected in our trading preferences. Even though it might be frustrating, we should respect that preference of our fellow traders and should not take it personally.

I don't have a problem trading a refractor for a HOFer, or a RC for inserts, whatever. But I'm not going to sit there a trade an autograph that sells for $100 for 400 base and inserts that together sell for $100. Just not worth it to me. But I might be up for trading autos for inserts and RCs, just depends on situation and what the card I'm getting rid of means to me. If it means more, or is harder to get/rarer, then it might be tougher to move for a handful of commons that can be found for next to nothing.

I agree that I don't have hard and fast rules about what to trade for what, and I'm not a fan of those (auto for auto etc). That said, as has been stated, I'm also not going exclusively by equal BV in trades by any means. I have some high value cards listed that I'm not willing to move unless I'm getting stuff that's comparable in value (in terms of a single card). But I'll always give you specific feedback as to why I'm turning down the trade.
Trading for cut autos of baseball HOFers I don't have, autos of current and future Cleveland Guardians, and anything else that catches my eye!

That's another thing that bugs me. Seems everyone trades BV for BV. But a $100 BV Acuna RC isn't the same value as a bunch of $10 BV cards of lower end/common type players. Yes, BV is the same. But "value" isn't the same. I typically trade by SV on bigger cards. If we're talking about $3-$5 and under BV cards, then sure BV is fine. But I'm not trading a $20 Jeter RC for $20 in BV of say Larry Walker or Justin Verlander or Elvis Andrus. Hopefully that makes some sense.

Personally, I don't mind trading auto for non auto's or inserts for non inserts, but I do like to get some type of comparable cards in return. Unless I am just pushing in the chips to finish off a set or similar, I really don't like multiple trading $15, $20, $30 cards for 50 or 60 .50 cent cards. That usually bunches my panties up.
Although I have made such trades in the past at times, it's usually when I just want to finish off a set or I really need something.

More good comments. I do not think people should feel pressured to trade away one $50 card for ten $5 cards. My post is more directed toward a $15 prospect or RC for $15 HOFer. Can we all agree that it is fair but not required?!
I would not have so many trades if not for all the great, kind, and fair traders on this site, so my disappointment is minimal and more of a question than an accusation.

Which Soto cards are you interested in. What would you want in a trade for the Jo Adell and the Bo Bichette.

I've done a trade with OP and echo some of these concerns, and I think it's largely an issue of *why* one collects too, are you a fan and want to add to your PC or are you an investor/speculator? Granted, it's not usually an all or nothing proposition but you also have to be willing to show a little skin for stuff you really want. Case in point, I traded away an RPE 1/1 for a mem/auto of Joe Mauer that was NOT 1/1. Did it hurt? Sure. But I also got the card I really wanted too.

RE: Trading Philosophy 101
I generally offer something they say they collect according to their profile, usually works out pretty well.
Generally I offer similar "caliber" cards to what I'm trying to trade for, but I'm always happy to let the conversation go wherever it needs to go to get the deal done.
