Pics look great. If you can get yourself something to help modify pics. I use Adobe Creative Suite 2
When posting photos that are 150 DPI I modify the size to be 400 by 625 if I am doing tall and 625 by 400 if sideways. When "saved for web" in Adobe Creative Suite 2 the resultant file size is small.
A quick example is below of how an easy modification can happen
