The Top card was the first card my dad ever gave to me, and it was the only card he owned from his childhood.
The bottom card was the first card I ever traded for back in 4th grade. I had to have it. It was older, awesome and Mantle. Probably gave up a Seaver RC for it, but at the time, well worth losing a stinky Mets player for a great Yankee.
The middle card was one of my first pack pulled cards, and it was love at first sight! Smile
There are more valuable base cards out there, but none with more sentimental value.
In terms of great photography, I was always impressed with that Kyle Blanks image. But the funniest image was from that set (Topps 2012) #407 Torii Hunter. Look it up and see if you find it as funny ... My daughters laughed and laughed when they first saw it.
I also would list that Mantle card as one of my favorites. An employee of mine in 1993 was moving and she gave me two boxes of cards and left before I could go through them, this Mantle as well as other "nice" cards were in the box.

I like this card. Not my favorite player but one of my favorite moments. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This one speaks volumes. Manny sealing the deal. His teammates pouring over the railing. The fans all in instant jubilation and the catcher starting his walk back to the dugout all before the bat comes to rest on the dirt. Beautiful.

I collect Hall of Fame baseball player cards and cards of current and retired superstars.

Just looked up the Hunter card. That is funny!
Although obscene, the 89 Fleer Ripken is fascinating. I wonder how many employees overlooked the photo before being produced and packaged.[/i]

64 Mantle Venezuelan is a very respectable favorite base card! I don't think there were any real parameters set by the OP, other than 'favorite base card'
BTW: welcome back to the Boards. It's been a while!

I guess if I saved used tinfoil and used tea bags instead of old comic books and old baseball cards, the difference between a crazed hoarder and a savvy collector is in that inherent value.
