I am thinking of collecting only the mascots and was wondering when they started. I can find info they started in 2010 but was wondering if they started before that. I am asking about just the mascots and not the opening day sets.

The Tigers mascot Paws has a card from 96 and then from 2007 on up. It looks like a few other ones had cards in the 80's though.

2007 and 2008 mascots were on cards and tattoos..

thank you both. i have a question. did the 2007 come out in multiple variations or just gold as i can only find it in gold?

I collect them too, found them to start in 2010. I do have some dupes listed.

How come i can not find any 2008 topps opening day mascot cards?

Because the set started in 2010. Before that they just issued random mascot cards but not as an actual set.

When you find all that you're looking for and want another project, try collecting the minor league mascots!!! I love the minor league mascots.
