The Mantle almost looks too good to be true. Make sure it isn't a reprint or a fake. If the guy was collecting during that time period, there were a slew of oppurtunistic companies counterfeiting cards. Just saying. Hope for you that it's real. It would be a really amazing find, if so. Good luck, but beware.

I guess if I saved used tinfoil and used tea bags instead of old comic books and old baseball cards, the difference between a crazed hoarder and a savvy collector is in that inherent value.

Doesn't the SI on the case mean sports illustrated....? Maybe it was cut from a magazine..??? Just a thought....

Wasn't around for another 10 years. If I had to guess it's something like "standard issue" because there was uncut fold out sheets of '54 Topps in sport magazine and Wilson Franks look exactly like the Topps issue. Actually, cool side note, Mantle is on the fold out in the Sport magazine.

1923 Ireland Candy Company Contest Cards! Never saw them before, but they are totally cool? 180 in the set. I'd love to see a 'cancelled' card from that set, too. Really very cool collection that's turning out to be.

I think on the Topps 206 card they will actually be grading the 2002 Topps 206 part and not the vintage card. YOu might want to check with BGS about breaking out the card to have the vintage card graded
